I had this problem too using JaS 10.4.6 install DVD installing in VMware.

What I did was to patch above DVD with a patch released by JaS and reinstall in VMware. After which the b0 problem disappeared.

You can find it in Demonoid. The file was released on 19 Apr

Look for JaS 10.4.6 install dvd ppf (ATI ATA /b0 fix / No need for amd enabler post install )

You might want to try that. Hope this helps.

I have never understood how to patch. I am well versed with computers but the patching of OSX86 is foreign to me.

Can you PM me/explain/point me in the right direction so I can learn how to patch using those patches.

Thanks in advance.

Note: My laptop (Compaq v2000) uses the ATI xPress 200 chipset and I am hoping that I will be able to run it natively without VMWare, but when i try to do a native install I recieve the Waiting for Root device error.

Ok what you do is 1st go download a copy of the patch I mentioned earlier. Unzip it and you will find a software call PPF-o-matic and a PPF file. Now, there's two versions of PPF-O-Matic one for OS X and another for Win XP. Run the Win XP version, there's a bug in the MAC OS version.

Once you run PPF-O-Matic, you will be presented with two little windows. The first one is to select the ISO file that you wish to patch. In this case, it would be the JaS 10.4.6 install DVD. In the 2nd window is where you select the PPF file which you had downloaded. Then click apply. Now this is what patching refers to. Once finished. Burn the patched JaS 10.4.6 install DVD and reinstall in VMware.

Hope this clarifies the process.

I am no longer getting the error but it seems as if everytime I shutdown the OS in VMWre then try to start it again it says Missing Operating System.

Can you tell me how to have the hard drive partitioned (im installing on a 16GB partition) and what to have it partitioned as before starting the install, and how using Disk Utility to make it so I can see the disk and install to it.

What I have been doing is using Partition Magic to make a Unformatted (primary) partition with no drive letter. Then I use VMWare on Disk mode, set it to partition 2 (which is the unformatted one) and select to use persistant connection. Then I start the install, use disk utility to rename the second partition Tiger, format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then install to that drive.

But I have not figured out how to Natively boot from it OR how to make it so I can use the OS after I shutdown VMWare then try to start it again.

Please tell me how to successfully do this. I was able to patch my 10.4.6 DVD to get rid of the b0 error.

Huge thanks in advance.
