waradmin
Hello, I have decided to start trying to do this again (get Mac on one of my systems), I did it on a Dell Optiplex GX270 easly back with version 10.4.1 or 10.4.2, but now I am trying to get it installed on my laptop, version 10.4.4. I have a Compaq v2000 (processor has SSE2 and all the required stuff) but I have read about the problems with ATI's x200 chipset. So I decided I would go the VMWare way. So I took my 40GB HD, dedicated 14GB to Windows, and left the other 16GB unpartitioned. Installed Windows XP, Partitionmagic, VMWare, and Daemon Tools. Mounted the DVD image, started the install in VMWare, formatted the blank partition as Mac Extended (Journaled) or something alike I forget the exact name, and installed the OS, and using VMWare was able to boot into it successfully, even shut it down, boot into it again, and reboot, to prove it was functional. Then I added the line into my boot.ini file: C:\chain0="Mac OS X86" hoping to be able to boot to the partition, and I just got the Chain booting error. (or whatever that chain startup error is called) and the Mac OS part wouldnt boot. So I reinstalled, this time setting the OSX partition as Active and still it would not boot, and XP also would not boot. So I reinstalled again, installed OSX using vmware again, Installed WINGRUB and set a grub entry as (h0,1) (to boot off of the second partition, the one containing OSX) and I just got an error saying the partition type was not recognized. So I went into windows, used Partitionmagic to set the OSX partition to active, then tried to boot using grub into OSX and recieved the same error as I did with grub previously. So now I come here. I have searched and searched and have found no solution to this problem. What am I doing wrong. I have installed Mac on a seperate Primary partition, set it as active, and added the chain0 into the boot.ini (and copied the file to C:) and have had no luck. I stayed home from school today because I was pissed I couldnt get this working and kept trying, everything I listed above I tried in the last 6 hours. Please tell me what Im doing wrong. Thank you.
