ApolloRocket
Hi folks, I am a Hacintosh newby and I am happy to anounce that I succeeded in installing a distribution on my PC, details at the end for the ones who want to read the details about the setup and the procedure I use. Though, I have a problem with my graphic card I believe: I have installed NATIT, Callisto b008 (with all the little changes reg. device id, EDID as in the installation guide) kextstat shows me that Osx86 loads ATIRadeon9700 kext, thus I also updated that info.plist so it refers to CallistoFB. I can enable CI via OSXtools, but QE is not available at all. Though I read in many treads my card is supposed to support QE. Also the system profiler states under Display / Monitor that QE is not supported and that my graphic card is using SW acceleration. Also It mentions my card being a PCI card. When installing AGPGart kext it'll become AGP but it will disable CI after restart and when I try to enable it again, I get a black screen after restart. Can anyone give me a hint, what I am doing wrong, or if my system might not support QE, and if so why? One more thought I had, can the Monitor also be the cause of QE not being supported? Am I right when saying that due to QE not being active, the Leopard DVD player, Leopard Chess game and DIVx Player do crash? A last issue, is it correct that Promise Fasttrack 378 Raid Chipset is not supported at all? No way to trick around with device id's in some info.plist of some kext dealing with this? If yes, which ones would that be? Thanx for all possible answers ----------------------------------------------------------------- The set up I have: PC HW: P4C800DE Intel® Pentium 4 Prescott with Hyperthreading 3.00 GHz 4GB RAM AC97 onboard Soundprocessor Promise Fastrack 378 RAID 2 IEEE 1394 Firewire connections ATI Radeon 9600 128MB PS/2 connected Keyboard and Mouse Creative Audigy Soundcard USB Soundcard Aureon 5,1 Logitech Quickcam USB Hub for device connections USB multicard reader from Revoltec SATA and IDE and Promise RAID 378 HDD's connected Monitor: Belinea 101910 (LCD) connected via DVI Installation Medium: DVD+R Double Layer with 'iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 (Final).iso' (Single Layer would be fine too, didn't have one at my disposal) MAC OSx partition allocated by Windows partitioning program at a size of 19061MB, will be needed to add kext extensions and program add ons later, in unformatted shape and named 'Leopard' After boot with iPC OSx86 DVD, select Disk utilities and ERASE partition named 'Leopard' as HFS+ journaled, non case sensistive IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE HFS+ journaled, case sensistive!!! At the boot pronpt type -f <enter> (you'll see a lot of rubish hunting down the screen, don't worry, gets clear a minute or so later) After successful boot, Leopard starts up for first registration. When finished, load following kexts and packages: - install: * IOPCMCIAFamily.kext * IONetworkingFamily.kext * SMBIOSEnabler.kxt * Callisto.kext (I used version b008_adapted, - with changed "CallistoUseAltPLLMethod" to Yes in Info.Plist) * CallistoHAL.kext (I used version b008_adapted) - reboot - Look in your /System/Library/Extensions folder for ATIRadeon9700GA.plugin/ and ATIRadeonGA.plugin/ Edit its Info.plist, under IOProviderClass key change IONDRVFramebuffer to CallistoFB - install: * NTFS-3G_2009.4.4-catacombae.dmg (will be installed later ???) !!!
