cchester
I installed Tiger 10.4.6 from DVD onto USB external HD. I boot to it via boot.ini & c:\osx.boot. I starts immediately...the hard drive light shows activity...it gets through the initial grey screen...the blue screen comes on and it says "Starting OS X"...then it freezes....the mouse is still active, but there is no hard drive activity. The processor fan comes on strong and stays that way for hours....any ideas? Quasimidi
Ok, I did some research on a hungarian OSX x86 forum. There is 3 active OSX86 developer there (one of them working with JaS). The SATA support is very basic right now, so don't expect much success with it. If it's working on your config, than you are lucky. Wait until a new SATA driver comes out. dfn_doe
I'm having the same issue. How do I pass the "-v" command line while booting? I'm using grub to start OSX... Pat Rho
im having the same issue my specs are AMD 64 Athlon Mobility 3700+ ATI Radeon 9700 1G ram 100G hd Before installing the ATI radeon mobility support, I got black screen with just the sound and mouse. At that stage, I could go into -x mode and get a view of desktop and everything. So I thought if I installed the ATI support, then it could work in the normal mode as well as the safe mode. But after installing the ATI support, the system hangs at "Staring OS X" I could move the mouse and everything but the progressive bar does not move at all. I tried the -v option and it says something about apple trackpad: synopsys touchpad 5.9 and it does not do anything from there the safemode -x does not work after installing ATI support what is wrong with this? edav
Hi kiitii, Try patching your AppleHDA.kext by following the instructions here in the section "audio". Boot off the install DVD and open a terminal to do this. I'm afraid there's also a problem with your graphics... I'll try to find more... EDIT: Radeon X1300 don't work out of the box. Try modifying the "com.apple.boot.plist" to set the right resolution. HTH, edav. vinayp
When you first ran the installation using the installation DVD, and after you select the partition to install on, did you make sure to click the "Customize" button and and select the option to install the AMD and SSE2 Patches? vrunner
I have the same problem. It hangs after the Starting OSX. In the verbose mode, I get some errors about not being able to load ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin. And then a couple more messages go by quickly before the terminal disappears and I get the aqua wallpaper, but no login window. Is there any way I can switch back to the terminal and see the messages ? edav
Salut Bilboket, Don't you have a laptop with a Intel GMA 900 integrated graphics chip? If yes, you need to plug an external display in the VGA output... or build a little jumper (as explained here in french) in order to shunt the #6 and #12 holes of the VGA connector, then put display in "mirrors" in the System Preferences.
