I have that same network adapter and its finicky, to say the least. You'd be better off getting a full-duplex network adapter because the bandwidth on that one from within OS X is extremely inconsistent. I have an 8Mbps pipe and in OS X at times, I'll be able to use no more than 100KB/sec and then it will shoot to like 800 and then down to 15... its ridiculous.

As for your problem though... go into System Preferences... click the Networking Preferences (or whatever it is), it may notify you that a new adapter has been found and needs to be configured otherwise you'll have to click the drop down menu and choose the card manually.
