I'm looking for a super-cheap 1280x800 laptop for Leopard. I'd prefer a dual-core CPU and I'd prefer it NOT be based on the Atom. I want to run Logic Express 8 occasionally on the road and on site (prefer to stick with my nVidia Mac Mini when I'm at home) and I don't want to blow $600 on a used Macbook from Wegener Media and I don't want to spend $850 on a new refurb from Apple.

I don't care if it's AMD or Intel based, as it'll be getting iPC, iDeneb, or one of those. I don't care if it can boot retail as it probably won't be getting updated once I have Quicktime 7.6 and Leopard 10.5.6 on it. All I really care about is QE/CI and wifi, as well as the screen resolution. It can be as big or small as necessary - 13", 15", I don't care. 1366x768 would be OK too. I'll be using a USB box for audio inputs and outputs.

I do want to buy new because I want the hardware warranty (I'll probably just pop out the HDD that comes with it and keep it default as a spare should I need the hardware warranty) and I don't care about dual booting or sleep, as it'll be use sparingly and shut down when I'm done with it. I've been looking at cheap $400-$500 machines from Dell (Employee Purchase Program, w00t!) and HP, but I'm hesitant because I don't know what mobile chipset variants will work. I know GMA4500 is out (which is too bad, as those seem to be the cheapest). What about the Radeon 3200 mobile or GeForce 8200 mobile?
