Long story short, running CPU-z on my sempron 2800+ (socket 754) reports that it supports SSE3, but /proc/cpuinfo states only up to SSE2. Which should I believe? I haven't gotten OSX up and running on it yet (trying to use a USB hard drive, and have x200 graphics, so it's been a royal pain, I haven't even gotten it to install under VMWare yet), but I'd prefer to know if I need the SSE2 patches or not before I actually get an installation to run.

Okay, this is a Mobile sempron, sorry. I've just posted this on the AMD forums...this CPU is really starting to confuse me. From what I've read online, the E6 stepping (which is what CPU-z reports me having) should support not only SSE3, but also 64-bit (bonus!). However, CPU-z says nothing about x64, and the amd cpuinfo reports a definate negative on 64-bit, and says nada about SSE3, just that SSE and SSE2 are supported. I'm also downloading Xubuntu 64-bit livecd as a "brute force" test to see if this thing really is 64-bit capable.
