Squiddz
Hey, I've got a vaguely similar setup and i've been trying to do the same thing all day too! Motherboard: MSI K9N SLI Diamond AM2 nForce 590 SLI SATA II DDR2 PCI-E [MSI-K9NSD] Chipset | North Bridge: NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI Chipset | South Bridge: NVIDIA MCP55PXE Processor: AMD X2 Dual Core AM2 Athlon 64 6000 3.0GHz 2x1MB Socket AM2 [AMD-X2M260] Graphics: BFG GeForce 8600GT OC 256MB DDR3 SLI PCI-E Dual DVI, TVO [bFG-86GT] Memory: Corsair XMS6400 2GB DDR2 (2x1GB) 800Mhz Non-ECC [CSR-X642G5] What have you tried? I wonder if you've missed clicking "Customize", because, that's where I found the NVIDIA chipset stuff.. not sure if it's right though! I've got the iPC OSx86 Universal 10.5.6 PPF5 Final DVD, and i've managed to get all the way through the install, up until it has to restart. At that point, it crashes.. I have tried the following selection: Voodoo 9.5.0 Kernel | NVinject 0.2.1 512MB VRAM | AppleNForceATA nForce Driver | nForceLAN Driver | Patched USB Driver ... as well as many combinations of these features, including trying with none selected at all. Each time, i'm confronted with the crash while it's restarting after successful installation. Note: I have checked the install disk for consistency... Can you tell us what you've tried, and perhaps we can work it out together! ================================= MY ERROR MESSAGE / KERNEL PANIC ================================= Please contact the Voodoo Kernel dev-team with a photo of the information printed below, along with a description of your system configuration and what you were doing at the time that the kernel panic occurred. viper1402
Go to system preferences > network and see if it's functioning properly what should it look like if its functioning properly i have a green light next to Ethernet and the rest are red and i am trying to connect through Ethernet but when i click on it it says "ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect" however the status is "Connected" im using a NTL Broadband passing through a router any ideas what my settings should be obviously IP address Etc will be different thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/161855-amd-install-help/#findComment-1132932 Share on other sites
Squiddz
...finally got it to boot... Nice one! I actually did too! It turned out my problem was simply that i was using it on a partition, and hadn't properly formatted the whole disk, so i did that and it just booted. Now, i just need to fiddle with installation options and drivers etc, until the audio, video and ethernet drivers work! Wireless apparently works out of the box! ..Then i'll need to learn how to use a mac! ...when i click on it it says "ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect"... Is it set to DHCP then? It might be an idea to change it to manual settings, and tell it the gateway address of your router, that is, 192.168.1.1 or similar, and make up an IP for your computer like 192.168.1.9, just make sure it isn't used by another computer! In fact, you might be best off copying all the settings from a working computer on the same network, like - presumably - the one you're using now... all settings apart from changing the last number in the IP address... Apologies if that's obvious to you, but maybe you hadn't thought of it yet? Let us know what difference it makes.
