I'm thinking there is a virus that survived a format with my xp CD. Any suggestions? If I were you, when I went to format, I would make sure that It was not the quick format and that it was the regualar one. flyingscott Posted May 3, 2006 Share Posted May 3, 2006 You will probably be fine if you run the full format (not the quick) but it still does not erase everything. Its my understanding that the windows utility on the install disk just changes permissions. (correct me if I am wrong) If you really want to be sure, you can use a utility to do a multipass wipe. Where it does a format, then it writes 1/0's, multiple times. http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ is free and has MANY different utilities.
