Do in a clean install of Kalyway 10.5.2 and initially do not install a video driver from Customize menu......just get audio and network running......and then update to 10.5.6 using Mysticus C* 10.5.6 updater from here......use NVdarwin to choose what RAM is needed for your 8800GT..... madwh
It just does that, did it to me too. Partition your hdd in 128gb partitions and you'll have all the space. I think it has to do with the fact that it's 32 bit but I'm not sure, I use vista 64 bit for windows os. Try with storage devices in ahci mode in bios. For me the apple partition scheme from disk utility options didn't work, instead I used guid or mbr, both work. (if you don't see these options anywhere partition your hdd first in disk utility and an options button will not be grayed out anymore) To boot from hdd with dvd first find the name of the partition where leopard is installed, type diskutil list in terminal from setup and your leopard partition should be something like 1s1 or something like that (you can also boot with -s and type same thing) and then boot from dvd again but now with rd=disk1s1 (or whatever you have) and if it gives you some errors about some kexts try to delete them from the extensions folder from system/library/extensions and then boot normally from hdd without dvd. Also, the only distirbution that worked for me is ideneb 10.5.6 Try that first, iaktos, kalyway, leo4all etc all gave me still waiting for root device error. I think ideneb is smarter than all, the only one that worked. Try this website for some info about your hardware http://www.osx86library.com/ and make sure you select osx86 tools when you install. verdant
Is there any reason for 250GB hard drive show up as 128gb? Check if AppleGenericPCATA.kext is present in /S/L/E and if present, rename it as AppleGenericPCATA.kext.bad using Terminal..... cd /System/Library/Extensions ls mv AppleGenericPCATA.kext AppleGenericPCATA.kext.bad ls exit then reboot with -v -f..... Indemnity83
Hi everyone, I worked on the lepord all day yesterday researched all topics on 8800gt and ended up with blackscreen, i'm really frustrated, so I decided to post my problem... I have run into this myself and found that if I plug the monitor into one of the DVI ports I get the black screen, and if I use the other it works. Try using the other port on your video card (you'll have to re-install though from what I've found).
