Ankiel
I really want to play Starcraft on my new Hackintosh but I'm having issues. I'm running a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L with a 2.83ghz core quad and a 9800 GTX video card. I have QE working fine. I've installed Starcraft and Brood War with the OS X installer and I have installed the patch (1.16.1) that is supposed to resolve issues with 256 colors. When I launch the game it goes to a black screen. I lose all video, but I can hear the game sounds so I know it is running. Also I can hear my mouse interacting with the menus so everything seems to be working except display. Following this I have to reboot. I can shut the game down with Command + Q however I never get my display back. Has anyone else had this problem? I've googled and searched for days and most people's issues seem to be resolved by using the 1.16.1 patch. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! bryscomat
Check the console to see if any errors are being posted when the program runs. If you find something your not sure of, post it here. It may be an issue with the video driver, in which case you'll usually find a hint in the Console.app. Something to try, it may or may not work for you, but try swapping the port on the video card that connects to the monitor. So if your monitor connects to one port, try the other.
