HUGE Overheating problems

My laptop is currently like a oven, I cooked my dinner under it once!

 

Seriosly... OK so I have 10.5.6 Installed, everything is working fine exept the CPU Temp. at around 69° - 80°.

MAJOR hott for this laptop. (Core 2 Duo) usually runs at 40° - mid 50° in windows, why is it soo hot now?

 

Does anyone have a solution?

Have you removed the thermal kext? If not you need to do that. Also I think it is pretty normal for these to read a little warmer in Mac then the do in Windows. I don't know if they are warmer or if they read the sensors differently. Mine will normally show around 60°c.

My Acer Extensa 5620 hovers between 55 to 70. I am not happy about it but nothing that I tied worked. It does seem more consistently hot under 10.5.6. One solution is to use a Notebook cooler. I use an Antec Notebook cooler. It was cheap, reviewed well and took the heat down 10 degrees C when under load. I certainly wouldn't encode video or do architectural rendering with this laptop. What's worse, I am fairly certain Temperature monitor is under reporting the temperature. I know that sounds crazy but I am very temperature sensitive from my days working in a photography darkroom.
