Wazgoingon
Its to the point where i cant even read the text on the installation screen, no colors either, its grayscale. Specs: Dell dimension 2400 1 GB of ram 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4 processor Intel® 82865G Graphics I am planning to buy a new PCI graphics card preferably one that is anywhere from 40-60$ that supports direct x 9 for aero on windows 7, it also needs to make it so the iPC installation screen is more clear so i can install it. Right now im looking at a 'NVIDIA GeForce 6200 PCI Graphics Card from EVGA' www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130289 is that PCI card compatible with iPC installation? PolishOX
Yes, that card will work with virtually any distro dvd and even retail with a modified kext. Can't help you with SMBIOS or DSDT stuff...sorry. _nate_
ok i recently did an IPC install on my dell dimension 4700 with a 2.8GHz p4. sounds like you have a similar setup. heres what i had checked, voodoo kernel, Intel ICH10 sata support chipset driver, AC97 audio driver, seatbelt kext 10.5.5, applesmbios toh. definitely get efi studio and osx86 tools. i had problems with my original video card having bad quality and not being able to find drivers for it, i had a sparkle geforce 6600 laying around that i put in and used efi studio to get working. i had a sound card installed but found out that i had onboard sound, the speakers ports were covered by a piece of plastic so i used the onboard and it worked. im using the newest chameleon which just came out, works great. im dual booting vista ultimate and IPC leopard. also if you have anything that you forget to install or want to install after you get mac installed just pop in the IPC disc and you can open an installer on your desk top and add whatever. hopefully that works. let me know. Ima bit of a newb can you guys explain to me what SMBIOS are and the DSDT Patches? _nate_
my dell runs very smooth with the voodoo kernel, it wouldnt even boot with the vanilla kernel. chameleon is a bootloader, new one was just released that is pretty amazing, theres plenty of posts about it. read up on it. i would compare your specs to the dimension 4700. you might be able to use the same things i used to get it to work, i had to do like 4 installs to get it right. Wazgoingon
ok im gonna read up on it but nate do you know anything about the APPLESMBIOS and the DSDT Patches edit: o ok i read up on chameleon so its a bootloader with a gui and other features, cool how do i set it up cuz i was planning on installing os x and then put in my windows dvd and repair the windows bootloader so i can boot windows, then go into easy bcd and configure the bootloader settings to choose between mac and windows in iPC there is a chameleon option if i just check that will it do the whole chameleon install for me? _nate_
i dont know much about the smbios stuff or dsdt patches. i know that the smbios that i checked fixed a problem i had with about this mac. other than that i think the idea is to install the least amount of patches. i dual boot vista and leopard on my dell. it would probably be easiest if you partitioned it, then installed windows then installed mac. after you install mac boot up into mac. then just use the newest chameleon install package and reboot. should get the gui bootloader and just pick windows or mac.
