Hey,

I have been successfully been running Leopard for the past few months on my Acer Extensa 4620z laptop. Recently my friend bought a different Acer laptop and wants to install Leopard on it.

His laptop:

Acer Extensa 5630z

Intel Pentium Dual Core

Mobile Intel 4 series Express chipset

3GB RAM DDR2

The problem is while trying to install Leopard, we see the boot up screen, but the disc drive just stops without loading anything more. We don't even see the little spinning loading icon. When booting in -v mode, it says everything is sucessful, but it says "waiting for boot volume with uuid" We've been using the final version of the iPC 10.5.6 install disc.

Thanks!

OK, I know this post is a bit old, but just in case...

I have had this error before too. I found a thread on how to fix somewhere. Anyway, to fix it use kexts from either a working backup or off the install cd. Boot from the install disk, open a terminal and do something like this:

# cp -r /Volumes/Install Disk/System/Library/Extensions/*ATA* /Volumes/Hard Drive/System/Library/Extensions/

then remove kext cache

# rm /Volumes/HD/System/Library/Extensions.mkext

quit terminal open diskutil repair the disk and permissions

cross fingers & reboot with -v -f

Good Luck
