GaMerZ84 Posted April 25, 2006 Share Posted April 25, 2006 I managed to install Mac OS X 10.4.4/5, but I cant get it to dual boot. When I load the OS selection screen, it give me a CHAIN BOOTING ERROR. If I want to use Mac OS X, I have to use fdisk/spfdisk and set my MAC drive to active and boot using the DVD (after waiting for the countdown), if I press ENTER during the countdown, it just bring me back to the Mac OS X installation screen. If I want to use WinXP, I have to use fdisk/spfdisk and set back Windows Drive to active. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. PS: I tried reading all the CHAIN BOOTING ERROR, but of no help. Take a look at the screenshot, I dun really get this part. 4. I think that screenshot maked is pretty damned obvious that your AF parttition is AFTER your other partitions (unless you happen to read from right to left). I have to merge the other 2 partitions and create the mac os x partition first before the windows partition? moonislune Posted April 28, 2006 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Are you using the Windows NT bootloader? If so, the Windows partition needs to be marked active. Acronis Partition Manager 2003 does a good and easy job and is found on most boot cd's. Just boot with Acronis, set Windows to active (right click on the drive, set as active), reboot, go into windows, add the c:\chain0="Mac OSX" to your boot.ini, and be sure to put the chain0 file from your OSX dvd at the root of the windows drive.
