How did you manage to get ethernet working on the 900 16gb model?

Thanks

Ethernet does not work on my 900. I use Wi-Fi and changed the PCIe card to a Dell 1390 which is recognized by OS X as Airport. The Atheros Card from the EeePC was driving me crazy working sometimes, sometimes not with the kismet method.

How did you manage to get ethernet working on the 900 16gb model?

Thanks

The internal Atheros will work with the way described in the Forum but you have to start with the -f switch. If I do not start with -f then Kismet sometimes doesn't find any networks. With the -f switch during boot I have nearly 100% success with the Kismet way. Signal strength is as good as in Linux or XP installations

i have the exact same eee pc 900HD and i have been trying for 2 days to even get it to boot to the install screen, all i get is a black screen with the blinking curser

. Which looking around means i dont have a bootable usb. I'm trying to do it with a usb stick and have followed everything. how did you get it to boot and install for you? any help would be really appreciated.

or if anyone has any ideas im open, in fact at my whits end LOL.

Hi:

Are you sure that the internal wifi don't works correctly??

In my Asus Eee PC900HD with a 160GB hard disk it works correctly using the driver included on the Ideneb 1.4 DVD,you have to select this:

-Network-->Wireless-->Realtek-->RTL8187SE

If i select this driver the internal wifi works correctly.

Thank you for the tutorial, and sorry for my english,i'm spanish, sorry.

Hola:

-Network-->Wireless-->Realtek-->RTL8187SE

Si selecciono este driver el wifi interno funciona correctamente.

Gracias por el tutorial y perdon por mi ingles,yo soy español.

Make sure you partition your usb stick in the correct way. You have to create a new partition using the full capacity of your usb stick, choose HFS+ journaled, and make sure you select the option "Master Boot Record" (MBR) before creating the partition.

Then restore the image and finally install chameleon in the usb stick.

yes thats exactly what i have done each time. ive tried with ideneb, and now i have ipc, which already has a boot on it and nothing, it just stops at the the black screen with the flashing prompt. i spent 4 days douloding that too LOL. anything else you can think of? did you turn anything off? did you upgrade your bios?

im really stuck apart from trying to acully use a cd rom drive which i would have to borrow. thanks for your quick responce, and your help.

ok so i deneb has the exact driver for our wifi cards that we need. any chance that you could copy the kext file from your extentions folder from your computer and send me RTL8187SE? thats the file for the wifi card.

i managed to install IPC osx on my 900HD, where i couldn't get i deneb to even boot from the usb, it didnt even boot from a cd when i tryed it on my mates macbookpro, just kernal panics. i guess i could have gooten a bad download. so i cant even install it to my usb stick to get that file, i tried.

this is the last thing i need to get working to make it complete so if you, or anyone i guess who's installed that file could grab it n zip it or something i could give you me email for you to send it. that would be so great. please let me know. thanks ever so

Installing iDeneb 1.4 (10.5.6) on a USB Disk from my iMac then starting EeePC 900 with freshly installed USB Disk, camera works OOTB (use Voodoo Kernel).

I just loaded iDeneb 1.4 and my camera is not working out of the box.

Via System Profiler my camera is:

USB 2.0 Camera

Product ID: 0x0505

Vendor ID: 0x05e3 (Genesys Logic, Inc)

Do we have the same camera?

No, I don´t think so. I don´t have USB 2.0 Camera in System Profiler, only CNF7129 (is this the camera? Product ID is 0xb071, Vendor ID is 0x04f2, Chicony Electronics)

Camera works absolutely fine in Photo Booth.

I posted some drivers for this system that seem to be OK on a similar thread. The only thing I would like to see working is the Camera but I'm using the iPC/iDeneb 1.0 10.5.6

Camera tries to work but all I see is a black screen. Windows USB\Vid05e3&Pid_0505&Rev_1117&MI_00

thanx to little penguin I got my nic working now, too.

So everything works perfect beside some little things:

- sleep dont work when closing the lid

- after wakeup from sleep i have to press backlight buttons (+ or -) to see something again

- massive CPU load when browsing flash sites/videos (videos stutter...)

If anybody has a solution for this please help.

cheers,

lizkin

- not working sleep when closing the lid fixed with superhais ClamshellDisplay.kext

- got the audio hotkeys work with spark

- now only flash and backlight issues open...

Thanks, so EeePC 900 makes a fine macbook mini now.

Not working for me:

-internal mic

-Quicktime, iTunes Movies, Movies and Trailer in FrontRow stop after a few seconds. Everything runs fine without VoodooHDA loaded, but of course without sound.

Any solution available?

Hello,

16 GB runcore SSD + 4 GB original internal SSD (also runcore)

Which runcore ssd did you get (16gb) for the 900?

Runcore for 900 with bios update

Runcore for 900a no bios upgrade

I know the second link is for the 900a but I heard some people use it for the 900 too. I am just wondering because when I installed osx on my 901 I needed a specific bios so I was not sure which ssd would be better for the 900. Thanks I appreciate it.
