I wish to install OS X on my Mini 9 as documented here in this Gizmodo link: http://gizmodo.com/5156903/how-to-hackinto...te-os-x-netbook

This is the actual method I would be using: http://mydellmini.com/forum/how-to-install...thod-t3925.html

----------

I have obtained a retail copy of 10.5.6 but the entire DVD is in a single .dmg file. Will this be supported when copying this onto my flash drive as per instructions here?

1) Insert the retail Mac OS X DVD into your Mac, and plug the larger USB drive in. Open Disk Utiltiy in the Applications/Utilities folder. Format the USB drive with the Mac OS Extended format (doesn't matter if it is Journaled) and when it is finished click the Restore tab. Drag the USB Drive to the Destination field, and drag the DVD to the Source field. Click the restore button, confirm your decision, and then wait for it to finish. This typically takes half an hour, maybe more.

I ask because the retail copy of 10.5.6 is different from the one that came with my macbook. Rather than it being a single .dmg file, the iMac OEM disc consists of .app files

You can mount the .dmg with diskutil then for your purpose in the linked guide the mounted volume would become the source drive in the restore retail dvd to usb drive step.
