Hi everyone.

First of all I would like to say thanks in advance for everyone who reads this post. I appreciate all the help I can get, so thank you.

Now, I have been trying to install iDeneb 1.3 on my notebook for quite some time now. I've been doing my best with configurations, trying to either guess what I need to install/not install, and also looking through as many guides as possible on installing it. I've installed it on my Desktop PC before, so i'm assuming theres nothing wrong with the CD, just haven't had any luck on the notebook.

So, the notebook is an MSI GX720. I've been working off guides of installing iDeneb 1.3 and 1.4 to an MSI GX700, but different people have different solutions, and no matter what I try, I never have any success. I'm very new to all this, and really have no idea what settings to choose based on my hardware, nor do I really know what the hardware is (the MSI website is very vague). I've been trying different settings and have ended up with the following results. Keeping in mind, the install has never had any problems. It is always a clean install, and always completes without hassle.

- Grey screen with Apple logo, small spinning circle which never ends (currently doing it now, has been for about an hour)

- Grey screen with Apple logo, small spinning circle for a short time, clearly HDD activity, then nothing. Screen stays the same, but no more progress is made

- Grey screen with Apple logo, small spinning circle for a short time, then screen goes dark and the "you must shut down" message.

Unfortunately i've not logged any of the config's i've tried so far, but I do know that in a couple of them, and when displaying the log (or whatever it is, booting with -v) it locks up after the ethernet line (off the top of my head, something about ethernet being given a specific address).

I know some of the information is a bit vague and useless, but I really don't know where to start with my problem. If anyone has any advice on what I should try out and work from there, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Adam.

I've noticed above the error lines specified, there is a warning...

It shows that, then the couldn't read user-specified errors. If thats any indication as to how badly i'm screwing up the installation. I'll keep trying.

Hi DjOli & Rikoshet,

Did you get your laptop to work?

Any advice/idea/comment?

What BIOS version do you have? Which processor?

Thanks!

Hey. Going back to some hackintoshing lately, i've had no luck with installing snow leopard. Managed to get it installed, but can't get any kexts working for video/audio/almost anything. Total pain in the ass. I've rolled back to iDeneb 1.4, which I can get working quite well, just minus the onboard wireless. I don't think it picks up the mem card reader either, but everything else seems good. A bit of a tricky install on the GX720, but I managed it none the less. If you want/need any help, just let me know.

Hi DjOli,

I accept your help!!!

I have a technical background (I work in IT), but with Mac I'm totally a Noob.

If you could please tell me which distribution you are using, if you have deal with BIOS somehow and may be if you have to pick a different kernel. The rest I can do it my self on the old trial-error, i gess. As for the web cam, wireless, card reader... Well, the more devices I have working the better, but I can live without them.

Thanks in advance man!!!

More than happy to help you out. I'll write a guide soon. Probably not within the next 24 hours as its currently 4.15am, and i've got baseball in the morning, and then a work christmas party, omg...... But i'll hook you up on Monday when I have the time.

Hi DjOli,

Post the configuration if you have the time. Doesn't have to be very fancy, quick indications will do it, I think.

I'll keep checking the thread from time to time.

Thanks man!!

Hi to all those waiting for me to get my ass into gear. I'm real sorry, been so busy with work lately that I forgot to write it up. I've got the day off tomorrow, so i'll go through everything i've done and write it all up. Sorry to keep you all waiting.
