MoNsTeReNeRgY22
Hi, Well first I tried iATKOS 5i but kept getting the error shown below so I tried a different distro. I just installed iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 on my PC's extra HD, and now I can't boot to it. I am able to get to the grey screen and the little circle loader, but then i get the cricle with an x in it. I used -V and I see that it freezes on the following line. Extension "com.apple.driver.iTunesPhoneDriver" has no explicit kernel dependency; using version 6.0 Still waiting for root device Still waiting for root device Any help on how to fix this is highly appreciated!!! Thanks again!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/157794-cant-boot-to-leopard-after-initial-install/ Share on other sites
MacNutty
What hardware config you have? You need proper drivers for your HDD. Also try booting with install disk in drive. Beerkex'd
Not for the HDD, for the drive controller. Common "difficult" brands are JMicron, Marvell and VIA. Intel controllers normally work without extra effort. SATA must be set to AHCI mode in the BIOS. IDE drive must be connected and jumpered as Master device. MoNsTeReNeRgY22
Here is my hardware setup. I also have tried botting with the disc in the drive, same error occurs. MOBO: MSI P965 Neo-F CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 DHX 4GB Video Card: ATI Radeon 1950 Pro Hard Drive(s): WD Raptor X 150 GB SATA(Windows XP on here) and 250 GB WD SATA(Leopard trying to install on here) I will look into my BIOS later tonight, and I think my drive controller is JMicron. Synaesthesia
You need the right hard drive controller. Select ICH 8 patch. Also try disabling the LAN in BIOS. Some resources for you: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=156415 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86858 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88500 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87967 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/157794-cant-boot-to-leopard-after-initial-install/#findComment-1108690 Share on other sites
MoNsTeReNeRgY22
Hi, Well I couldn't find AHCI mode in my BIOS, but I did disable LAN. I also tried the patches, and I get the green check mark that says I installed sucesfully, but whenever I try to boot to it I get the same error I got originally. Synaesthesia
It's a setting in BIOS that has to do with how SATA works, so change something with SATA or Hard drives in BIOS. Keep looking.
