I paid $2000 for the base 2.4GHz model for the macbook pro

I love the screen, I love OSX, I love the build quality and backlit keyboard. However, being the computer enthuasiast that I am, I would love to have OSX on a quad core CPU with 8GB of RAM. I am seriously thinking of going the PC route and putting hackintosh on it...what do you guys recommend from experience?

BTW, the MBP is mainly used as a desktop at the moment

Yes. Once you set it all up, it works just like a real mac.

It depends, if you are a mobil user, the macbook pro will be fine, but if you want a quad core desktop, you can build a powerful hackintosh with almost the same hardware as a MacPro and will only cost you less than half of a MacPro.

i have just a simple E5200 Dual Core 2.5Ghz that can overclock all the way to 4ghz (havn't tried pushing furthur!!!) that ranges from a geekbench score of 3400 @ 2.5Ghz 4500 @ 3.3Ghz to 5400 (4ghz) so yes you can really build a super quick ipc with better cpu etc and get even better results! Am using 2gb 444-12 memory.
