I am running a vanilla 10.5 install on a GA-P35-DS3L MB with a eVga 8800GT video card. Most everything works fine including the shutdown and restart. However, one nagging problem that I cannot fix is mouse lag. There is a slight lag continuously, and then periodically the lag will get worse, and then clear up a bit again. I had installed the MS IntelliType & IntelliPoint USB drivers for the keyboard and mouse, and that mouse had really bag lag. I finally uninstalled the MS driver and went to a vanilla wired USB mouse. The lag issue improved, but was still a problem. Then last week I found new updated USB drivers and applied them, and the mouse lag continues.

The only other thing I use the USB for is a drive dock, and the dock works without any issues.

This mouse lag is driving me crazy, any idea what could be the problem and more importantly, how can I fix it?

You have several options the problem is caused by a new .kext from Apple dealing with their DRM so the first idea is too remove/rename AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext then remove the caches and boot with the -f option at the darwin boot loader to force the re-loading/caching. Next is use the attached Disabler.kext this is modified to add this offending .kext to the already blacklisted .kext that are known to cause problems. Lastly you can flash your card with the ROM of a MacPro 8800GT to get rid of the problem.

I am still running 10.5.5, and I as I understand things, the AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext only affect 10.5.6. Is that correct?

Exactly which makes me now not have a clue as to what is doing it I thought you were running the 10.5.6.

Also, do you know if there are any issues with moving to 10.5.6 from 10.5.5?

Thanks.

Your welcome none other than the usual AppleIntelCPUManagement.kext causing the system to freeze when loaded the Disabler.kext has this in its blacklist so if you use that your good or another idea is the ACPI patcher/DSDT.aml generator which can fix this when using the DSDT.aml with a patched boot loader that supports it.
