I recently installed iAtkos 5i and everything works OK other than a few little niggles.

On checking system profiler recently, the hardware field gives an error message of "There was an error while gathering this information."

I recently updated to 10.5.6 and previous to this, I definitely had something displayed here.

Is there a fix for this? I have tried googling but I cannot find a definitive solution.

You need to be looking for something like the AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext or I believe I have seen a ????Resolver.kext mentioned on here or use a patched version of the chameleon boot loader like the chameleonsm I use to inject the settings from the com.apple.Boot.plist so it will work properly.

I've read a little more on this (System Profiler problem) and it looks like it has to do with AppleSMBIOS.kext which people recommend updating.

My question is which/where do I get the correct updated kext for my install?

The specifics of my install are....

Used Auzigog's fantastic guide (sorry had to give him another plug) using GRUB-DFE to install retail Leopard. Then weaksauce12's Universal OSx86 Installer (sorry another plug for more great help I got). Then did my audio fix (again from a guide for noobs like me). So I'm currently running 10.5.6

Just a side note, haven't really had to add/change a kext without the help of a simple-to-use installer, so if I need to upgrade the AppleSMBIOS.kext if you can be as detailed as possible about how that is done I would be eternally grateful.

:P

You need an original, unmodified AppleSMBIOS.kext from 10.5.6. You can extract it from an install DVD or Apple 10.5.6 update using a program called Pacifist and then install it using OSX86Tools.

Install the latest Chameleon Bootloader and then replace the file 'boot' at the root of your drive with ChameleonSM, found in this thread:

Follow the instructions closely and pay attention to the odd spelling of 'manufacturer'.

Super! Many thanks will give this a try. I'm actually very familiar with Pacifist (I have a number of real Macs).
