rainwalker
just adding my own installation guide in case it helps anyone. some of these steps may be unnecessary and i obviously don't guarantee that any of this will work for you. i have very little experience with this stuff so i also won't be able to provide any kind of support. many thanks go out to the entire community for helping me get this running. much of the information here is modified forms of others' instructions. note that i've also added a Linksys WPM-300N card. if you have an intel 3945 wireless card, i'd stop waiting on those drivers. i appreciate all of the hard work that went into development of them; i even donated $10 to help out the developer. two years later, i'm done waiting. i bought the Linksys PCMCIA (Cardbus/PC-Card) refurbished for $15. three days later i have perfect wireless on mac. do it. don't be stubborn (or idealistic) any longer. plus, i think you'll have wireless-n when it becomes standard. this is my install procedure for: iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal Fujitsu Lifebook T4210 Tablet-PC w/ Linksys WPM-300N Card Vista / OSX dual boot use g-parted live cd to format hdd into two partitions. first section should be formatted ntfs. second should be formatted fat32. begin OSX install to second partition. open Disk Utility from upper menubar and format your mac partition (2nd) by selecting it and then choosing Erase. choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format type. continue installation and choose "customize" when available. select these features: driver -> video -> intel -> Intel GMA950 (this wasn't necessary in some older install versions. now it is.) driver -> wireless -> Broadcom driver -> power management -> AppleACPIBattery Manager fixes -> ACPI Fix (CAUTION: not recommended. breaks ethernet and does other funky things. makes power button functional - might also affect button panel if a driver is developed) fixes -> dual boot time sync fixes -> IOPCMCIAFamily fixes -> PS/2 -> PS/2 Keyboard (DO NOT CHOOSE PS/2 Mouse) [/b]apps -> Pacifist apps -> Perian apps -> NTFS Read/Write sound functionality: download here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32859 and http://psykopat.free.fr/apple/AppleHDA/sigmatel/ copy AppleHDAPatcher_v1.12 to desktop. drag Stac9228 onto AppleHDAPatcher_v1.12 and follow any onscreen prompts. reboot. tablet functionality: open terminal and change to appropriate directory as follows: cd /System/Library/Extensions/Apple16X50Serial.kext/Contents/Plugins/Apple16X50ACPI.kext/Contents/ once in the correct directory, type: sudo nano Info.plist change IONameMatch string from "PNP0501" to "FUJ02E5". then hit Ctrl+X, save, and quit. now open your applications folder, then utilities folder, open Disk Utility, select the appropriate partition, and choose "Repair Disk Permissions". reboot. download and install Tablet Magic. I used TabletMagic2b16.dmg. reboot. enable TabletMagic through System Preferences pane. in Mapping, click on left white box to constrain cursor. in Extras choose Launch at Startup and Enable Ink. you shouldn't need to Enable Digitizer in TabletPC. ethernet functionality: open terminal and change to appropriate directory as follows: cd /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleYukon2.kext/Contents/ once in the correct directory, type: sudo nano Info.plist for <key>Yukon-88E8055</key> change: <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0x436311ab</string> <key>IOPCISecondaryMatch</key> <string>0x139a10cf</string> then hit Ctrl+X, save, and quit. now open your applications folder, then utilities folder, open Disk Utility, select the appropriate partition, and choose "Repair Disk Permissions". reboot. sleep functionality: download and install DeepSleep (dashboard widget). once installed, change the settings to "deep" for both options. you can now put the computer to sleep via this widget. other changes: open Date & Time and choose "Set date & time automatically" (and appropriate area). also change Time Zone to appropriate settings. open system preferences -> software update and uncheck auto download. setting up dual-boot: shut down and insert the g-parted cd. format 1st partition to ntfs (2nd partition should be mac). right click on 1st partition, choose "Manage Flags", and set it to "boot". reboot and perform full Vista install (all upgrade hacks, etc.) to first partition. now google, download, and install EasyBCD. then choose to Add an entry and add an OS x86 entry with whatever name you want. when you reboot, the Vista bootloader will offer to boot either vista or mac. note: if you ever need to reinstall the Mac OS X system, install it exactly as outlined above (including changing vista partition flags back to "boot" with gparted cd). then, boot the vista cd and enter repair mode. open command prompt and enter command "bootrec /fixmbr". although this last part isn't absolutely necessary, it'll shorten the boot time by a second or two and 'normalize' everything. you may want/need to delete/add the Mac OS X entry through EasyBCD again. REMAINING PROBLEMS: -SD Card Reader (O2Micro). i see the words ) O2Micro on a lot of posts out there but my sd card reader doesn't work in mac. let me know if yours does (and you're a t42xx user). -Reverse/Switch Mouse Buttons. ok so this is more of a personal preference which the community isn't responsible for. but how the heck did apple forget to let lefties switch their mouse buttons? can someone write a script/mod for this?
