iv got two last questions. my new hard drive i want to divide(partion) it so would i just use a partion guide to partion and then the guide you posted? and the last question is that i am getting OSX 4.1 is there a need to update to 4.6? and if so is there a guide to do that. thanks so much

I HIGHLY recommend that you get 10.4.3 or above for two reasons. One is that most of your apps won't work with 10.4.1 because of it's age. Two is that you could much easier partition with Windows and OSx86 10.4.3 than 10.4.1. You would not need another hard drive. I would recommend that you download 10.4.6 because it's the newest version. Here is a guide for the 10.4.6 installation.

Just copy and paste the URL from above. The link for some reason doesn't want to work.

I hope this helps

ok let me start this post off by thanking you so much for helping me find all these guides for my problem. Well iv finally made up my mind and im going to partion my 2nd hard drive. i was wondering if this following possibility is possible and if it is is there a guide for it? Ok i have my first hard drive full of my windows {censored}. and my second i want to partion so i can use 1/2 windows and 1/2 OSX. now heres the trick i want it so when i change the boot order to hard drive 2 i want it to boot to OSX or ask me if i want to boot to OSX or windows. i hope you understand what i mean. Thanks Again

Colonels1020 - thanks for answering these questions and your patience!

Zlantix - I'm moving this topic to the installation sub-forum, where it really belongs and where it will get more visibility; the folks there will be able to help you further. Good luck!

thank you and im sorry about that, so can anyone help me with my problem?

I would like to piggy back on this topic. I too have wondered how I can just erase my drive , and just install the Intel version of OSX and be done with it . If I can get OSX running smooth on my Sony Vaio , then I will be happy with OSX , as that's all I have ever ran as an OS .

dude i dont think you completly understand what my question/problem was. i do NOT want to erase my drive and jus have OSX. i want to have it so when i change my boot order to hard drive 2 it goes to OSX and i can still use hard drive 2 for some windows storage.

EDIT: i think i found the answer to my question, i would just like someone to verify that i am correct. so if i use hard drive 1 for win xp and i partion hard drive 2 and use 1/2 for win xp and 1/2 to install OSX. when i put Darwins boot manager on hard drive 2 and change my boot order to hard drive 2 i can select if i want to run OSX on hard drive 2 or win xp on hard drive 1. is my information correct? Thanks
