World of Warcraft on Hackintosh

I have an issue with World of Warcraft crashing immediately after the video intro sequence. It's a fresh install off of the disks and I patched up to 3.0.8. I've searched both here an on WoW forums for assistance. I was hoping someone will help me.

 

Everything works on my system. The sound and video are PERFECT through the video intro, then when it tries to load the WoW GUI, it crashes... And doesn't give a WoW error, it says "The application World of Warcraft has quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications were not effected."

 

My system is as follows:

Hp Pavilion Notebook DV4225NR

60GB HDD (Seagate, I think.)

768 DDR RAM

Intel Mobile Graphics 915 (Using AppleIntelGMA950 kexts with Elliot patch.)

Altec Lansing Sound AC'97

Broadcom Wireless Air Force Card

 

The only applications I have running are Firefox, MSN Messenger, and Finder at the time of the crash. It happens over and over. I've tried repairing permissions to the WoW folder and opening the World of Warcraft.app with rosetta. None of these fixes work. I'm going to try rebooting for the heck of it and seeing if that's all I needed to do. (Doubt it, but it's worth a shot.)

Intel Mobile Graphics 915 (Using AppleIntelGMA950 kexts with Elliot patch.)

 

I don't want to sound like an {censored}, but all integrated Intel Graphics are {censored} for games, you should know about it and specially the graphics that you are using, the Intel 950 is a little better but still {censored} for gaming. This is why you are having issues.

I forgot that everyone has that opinion of intel sets. I don't know where people are getting this. In windows I get outstanding performance from my Intel 915 chipset. I always get around 30fps when playing WoW. Nothing has ever been unplayable on my machine... I think people frown on the intels because you can't overclock them or something... Whats more... A friend of mine with the same graphics card, gets BETTER performance than I do... He get's around 50fps... So this "intel's are bad for gaming" is just a stigma that needs to be broken...

 

Back to the issue, I tried other games and it appears to be just a wow problem. I can take a screenshot of the error, or post it in text here, but it's quite long... so I'm not going to do that unless I'm asked to. I've looked up the error in the WoW forums and it only happens to a select few mac owners who are able to remedy the problem by resetting permissions to the folders... I think I will try that, reboot and see if it works.

 

This is still an SOS signal... any help would be appreciated. :S

I dont think that wow 3.x still supports GMA950, 915 is definitely out of specs....

BTW i have a Asus P5ld2-V wich has a GMA950 that i bought when it was the only supported card on Intel macs..

A simple Geforce7300LE/256mb priced 25 € (when i got it, more than 2 years ago) got my WOW performance to triple....my advise is go and get one "decent" graphic card.. anyone will work 2/3 times faster then the poor "office-oriented" GMA950

The Intel 950 IS still supported by WoW as is the 915... Or at least that is the case for windows. And secondly, this is a laptop... so I doubt getting a new graphics card is possible, and if it is, it's almost assuredly a pain in the ass.

 

I'm not looking for an "It cannot be done." Because it can. It works in XP, it works in Linux, It HAS to work in Mac. What I want to know is "how." And, since I'm almost positive that it's not a driver or a chipset issue, I'm going to post my error log so maybe it can be debunked.

 

You guys wouldn't go on and on about my graphics card being {censored}e if it'd lied and said I had a GeForce to begin with.
