Try installing the Voodoo XNU 9.5.0 kernel along with VoodooPower.kext.

When using the above kernel on 10.5.6 you'll need seatbelt.kext from 10.5.5, otherwise you'll get a kernel panic when mounting .dmg images.

Kernel comes with its own installer, VoodooPower.kext and seatbelt.kext can be installed with kexthelper or OSX86Tools.

VoodooPower.kext adjusts CPU speed according to load (on compatible CPUs, cross your fingers).

Use google to find them.

I misunderstood you, I thought you had the OS running already.

Make sure your laptop is running on AC power. Don't try to install while on battery power.

Can your force the fan to run at full speed all the time from the BIOS?

Get some fans to blow at your laptop or take it somewhere where it's cold, like your refrigerator (I'm not kidding).

Another (very common) reason for the freeze could be that your laptop decides to enter sleep mode because you're not touching mouse or keyboard while it's installing. If that's the case, just move the mouse or touch the touch pad every two minutes. Or look in the BIOS settings if it's possible to disable power saving features.
