O.G Posted February 24, 2009 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Alrite so today i successfully installed and booted into ideneb 1.4 NO HEADACHES! i dualbooted it with XP MCE SP3 and used easyBCD (changed the xp bootloader to the vista one). Following this guide i installed everything (cept for apple hda patcher which was not in ideneb.) i have a dell dimension e%!)< which has the same hardware as the 5150. I ran into some trouble getting ethernet set up, so i followed a bunch of guides and rebooted. And guess what? Got the ongoing grey apple boot screen. I did the -v flag: it said Local Volume C: version blahblah and froze. So i decided to reinstall, this time with intel pro ethernet drivers too. So i used disc utility and ERASE to reformat my mac partition and installed. Problem is, when i rebooted, and tried to boot up into mac, my computer rebooted after i hit enter. Tried with -v flag, to quick to catch anything, it rebooted. I have no idea what to do. I finally got the guts to try it, it worked, then failed. marliwahoo Posted February 25, 2009 Share Posted February 25, 2009 Welcome to the forum. Your experience is common in this way: reinstalling to get things right when you first start is common. This is most probably going to happen several times as you get started. Few people go through the "osx 86" process with out several failures. Be patient. You may be booting to the wrong partition. Try searching for how to set active partition. This is what I would try first. Good luck ! RSN Posted February 25, 2009 Share Posted February 25, 2009 As Marlin said, be patient and try again. Now what could have happened is that you selected some type of option that causes a Reboot. Try again WITHOUT any option selected and AFTER you can boot, search for the drivers you need!!!!!! Its a lot more gratifying to be able to work on your Hackintosh instead of just installing several times to try to get the right drivers. LAN drivers are easy to find using google. Good luck. O.G Posted February 26, 2009 Author Share Posted February 26, 2009 hmmm... I never used any options. My partition is active, as i tried to use the Darwin bootloader and now easyBCD wont work. I have tried many bootloaders: the vista bootloader pointed the right direction, same problem Darwin bootloader same problem Grub menu.lst seemed fine, but to no avail, i could not boot. I tried flag -v -X -f The text went all the way to "Starting Darwin x86 kernel", froze, and computer rebooted. Im sorry if i seem impatient Its just that many things(like jailbreaking my ipod and such) give me at least 1 headache, and this installation went fine! His method of fixing does not work for me as i have chosen the exact same options as i did before.
