I'm trying to iunstall the ideneb v 1.4 version on my HP dv4000 .

It is somehow too bad it's allways trouble to get osx installed on theis pc ; yet in the end, it always succeeds...

well, my story starts as folowing:

i previously had installed the 10.5.5 version ( whitch was hard to get properly installed, because off the intel gma900 driver.

but decided to install this new version.

the installation was fine, it worked like a charm; yet booting is somehow an issue

everytime i see it loading upto the realtec rtl 8139 fixenetflowcontroll - flow controll is disabled

then it sais "syncing disks ...... terminating all processes.

and then it reboots.

whatever options i choose in the install menu, or how often i re-install the system, it simply won't get past that part

Now my question:

Is there allready someone

who has this laptop, and installed the ideneb 10.5.6 or xxx 10.5.6 with success; and if yes, how?

any suggestion is welcome

thnx in advance for the info

Hi pjottrr,

I have an HP Pavilion DV4217cl and I am successful with the installation; in fact it runs beautifully! It is fast, crisp and everything works; you are really going to enjoy it: kbd., mouse, video, audio, display, Ethernet, etc. with one exception which is explained below; this should work for DV4200 with same system specs.

Here is what worked for me:

9.5 Voodoo kernel

Laptop Display

Intel GMA 900 (the name GM915 may mislead you, you must select GMA900)

Intel ICH 10 SATA support

AC '97 Audio (this is weird, as the notebook has intel hd audio, but it works)

RealTek R1000

Intel Proset/Wireless 2200

seatbelt.kext 10.5.5

PS2 Keyboard fix

PS2 Mouse fix

All Applications except Marvin's AMD Utility

ON REBOOT, press "F8" key at Darwin prompt, then type "-f" (no quotes, of course)

Also: Please help if you can, once you get going.

We still have two problems:

1. I am still failing with the intel 2200b/g wireless working. It is on and I can see my network, as well as surrounding networks using Network Selector, however, once I tell it which network to connect associate with, I get nothing. I can see that the program is working and that the card is available and working; I know I am simply doing something wrong.

2. Network Preferences keeps crashing when I attempt to make changes.

GOOD LUCK! and write back if you find a fix for the wireless!

dh

P.S. I did this with iPC 10.5.6 Universal

***To fix that problem , I installed a default broadcom card ( bcm 43XX driver )

P.S. I did this with iPC 10.5.6 Universal

*** i can't seem to get into the setup, Everytime it loads, it loads with the well known blue screen, even with multiple tries in startup options ( and using external monitor) i can.t seem to get the ipc version to boot into the setup)

i'll put some tries into the setup, Just using only the options you selected, but first i need te get into the setup...

Ill get back to you if i found something / have a sollution.

Thnx for the reply btw.

it still gives me a lot of problems.

i tried again to get the ipc 10.5.6 running;

What i tried

** external monitor

vga

svideo

** 2-wire trick ( pins 1-6 & 2-12 connected on vga port)

** 1-wiretrick ( pins 10-14 connected on vga port )

** numerous boot options like -v -x -f -s platform=x86pc graphicsmode=.....

nothing seems to work on the ipc disk.

I keep getting the blue screen.

However, i can get other bootdisks int setup with wiretricks. Li8ke the ideneb 1.4, ideneb 1.3, xxx 10.5.6 and the iatkos 1.5I

every other version has something wrong, whitch makes it unusefull ( mainly due to the gma 900 chip).

so the ipc version is my last resort.

at the moment i have the 10.5.6 final,

But i see there is also aa ppf5 version.

i am downloading that one at the moment, see if i can boot up into that.

Is there anyone havving ideas whipe waiting? for this problem ( downloading takes another day or so)

Well i succeeded with the ipc ppf 5 version.

everything just worked out of the box,

now i'm running osx with QE on my intel gma....

The exact laptop type is hp dv4205EA

reason of mentioning:

If you use the search, this post should popup.

it makes it easy for other people with this exact device.

thnx everyone for their support.

  • 6 months later...

how funny,

my laptop crashed ( harddrive) and now i'm using my own post as a guidance for setting up osx again....

i got stuck again on the intel 915 gma drivers again, and now seeing in my own post i used the 900 in stead of the 915 drivers...

annyway, again i'm using the ipc version, got again trouble installing ( installed it 4 times allready)

so actually i hope i can get it to work again.

and allthough a bit late; To butterfingarz: i just used another version with other drivers. instead of the ideneb v1.3, i used the ipc 10.5.6 ppf5
