thrunner
the onboard gfx ?What you mean guys ? Will it be a good cheap system oder just a cheap one ?Welcome to the forum. You might want to read this thread: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?s=...indpost&p=73077about upgrading the BIOS before installing. There may be a HD detection problem. Think about increasing the amount of RAM to 1GB, OSX is quite memory intensive, especially with Rosetta. onixwj
For the sake of others searching for information, we should mention here that the system on which the OP hopes to install OS X is an Asus Pundit PE-3 (maybe the subject could be changed to something more useful). The motherboard is an Intel P5GD1-VM/L, which is similar to the Intel P5GD1-VM, but only has one ATA controller, only two SATA, no floppy, (& more?). more motherboard specs: * North Bridge: Intel 915GL * South Bridge: ICH6 * Graphics: Intel Media Accelerator 900 * Audio: AC'97 * 1 x ATA 100 * 2 x SATA I was unable to successfully install OS X on this system, but have not given up yet. urig-herb
I recommend at least a Pentium D 805 and GMA950 it will be much faster, but only a bit more expensive. comatron
I recommend at least a Pentium D 805 and GMA950 it will be much faster, but only a bit more expensive. There are 2 things i want - at one of them i´m not sure if it´s possible Thing 1: A very cheap system for mac OS - just for internet use and some standart applications Thing 2: OSX 10.4.5 or .6 should boot native on it (without patchin) - dunno if it works ps: atm im runnin it on a amd athlon 64 box with no sse3. radeon 9800 gfx which really sux. but it runs - patched. @urig-herb: yeah maybe its an alternative - IF thing 2 is that way @onix-wj: thanx for the pm at first. do you boot an unpatched iso ? does a patched one work ? ... and: you really think its the CPU not the board ? I read on the wikies compatibly list that a celeron 341 runs natively unpatched very fine with all commands support - and the intel915 gl should do fine work to i guess. thats why im a bit confused now why you have this problems with it ... mesut
you need TPM patch anyway. both intel D and celeron D cpus have SSE3 so it wont make differ, but speed and cost. onixwj
@onix-wj: thanx for the pm at first. do you boot an unpatched iso ? does a patched one work ? I'm not sure. What do you mean by "patched"? It's not an original Apple disc; it has been modified in some way. you really think its the CPU not the board ? No, I don't think either -- I have no theory. I know that both the CPU and the motherboard are able to boot from a DVD and to boot GNU/Linux I installed on a hard drive. I read on the wikies compatibly list that a celeron 341 runs natively unpatched very fine with all commands support - and the intel915 gl should do fine work to i guess. thats why im a bit confused now why you have this problems with it ... I don't understand what you mean. I'm not using a Celeron 341. I'm using a Celeron D 336.
