seanraf
Since OS x86 is 64 Bit compatible with a 32 bit compatibility layer, is it capable of running 64 Bit apps on a Hackintosh running a AMD64 or and 64 Bit Intel chips? This is just a curiousity that I have, not something of pressing importance. stabile007
As far as I have figured out only the PPC OSX was built for 64 bit processors. The OSX86/Intel OSX is only 32bit because the Intel Core Duo chips Apple is using are only 32bit so OSX86 is only 32bit or so I would guess.... bluedragon1971
It will be interesting to see in the future, once CoreDuo chips based on Merom (which will be 64-bit) are released. I have a feeling that the PowerMac replacements will use Pentium D's or the Merom based chips, so they will retain 64-bitness. If that is the case, then my 64-bit Celeron D will also be able to run 64-bit applications Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15421-64-bit-curiousity/#findComment-103914 Share on other sites
