  1. 64 Bit Curiousity

Since OS x86 is 64 Bit compatible with a 32 bit compatibility layer, is it capable of running 64 Bit apps on a Hackintosh running a AMD64 or and 64 Bit Intel chips? This is just a curiousity that I have, not something of pressing importance.
  2. Nevermind about all of that, but how do you change the resoultion in the Boot file.
  3. I was wondering how you could edit ATIRadeonX1000.kext with your device ID. Thank you. Alos, this may seem kinda noobish, but how do you get to com.apple.Boot.plist? I am a noob at OSx86 still.
  4. Hey. I am really happy to have a working OS x86 system now (that is what I am posting on right now!) and I will like someone to point me towards a way to get the two aforementioned pieces of hardware (ATI X1800XL and Realtek ALC882) fully compatible under OS x86. I know there is a way, but I can't find it. Thank you! This is my set up: OS x86 version: 10.4.5 Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Motherboard: MSI RD480 Neo2 Graphics Card: ATI Radeon All In Wonder X1800XL RAM: 1 GB (2x 512mb) DVD Burner: 1x Internal NEC 1x External Firewire NEC Hard Drive: 250 Gb Western Digital ATA100 Other: Floppy Drive and Internal USB 2.0 52-in-1 Card ReadeProcessor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
  5. GUI?

I know that. I love the power and stability of Darwin but I cannot stand not having a GUI. I was wondering how I can get gnome or kde running over Darwin such as Aqua does on OS X.
  6. GUI?

Thanks! I was looking at the gnu-darwin distro (http://www.gnu-darwin.org) and running a script to install Gnome over it but I couldn't seem to find a working iso download. So, I would just install OS X on my PC on another partition and then install KDE over that?
  7. GUI?

I was wondering if there was a way to get KDE or Gnome running over Darwin. I know there is a port for the X11 system over darwin, but how would you install a GUI over that? Is there any easy way to do this as a prompt or do you have to mess around in the kernel? Thanks!
  8. Patched Dvd Install Problem

Would installing with a patched 10.4.3 disk and using that Disk Utility work? Then I can just use the 10.4.4/5 install disk to update the volume once I am done, correct? If that wouldn't work, what partitioning software would work. I own a copy of Partition Magic and I have Linux on my machine already and that has a good console partitioning utility.
  9. Patched Dvd Install Problem

Ok, so I installed on a 20 GB hard drive I had lying around. Everything went smoothly. However, when I try to boot off of that device, it goes to black. No Darwin boot screen or anything. Is anyone else having this problem? I am using the Myzar pre-patched 10.4.4/5 DVD that showed op on the bay about a week ago.
  10. Patched Dvd Install Problem

Does anyone have anyting to say about this? I am using the pre-patched DVD that showed up a week ago.
  11. I patched the DVD and it booted up successfully. However, Disk Utility misreads my hard drive and when I try to create a standard Mac OS Extended partition, it messes up my partition table. Is there any way around this, or do I have to use another seperate hard drive for OS X? My Hardware Set Up Is: Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Motherboard: MSI RD480 Neo2 Graphics Card: ATI Radeon All In Wonder X1800XL RAM: 1 GB (2x 512mb) DVD Burner: 1x Internal NEC 1x External Firewire NEC Hard Drive: 250 Gb Western Digital ATA100 Other: Floppy Drive and Internal USB 2.0 52-in-1 Card Reader
  12. Compatiblity Question

I cannot afford one of the new intel macs right now, so I am just upgrading my old computer. Also, the lack of windows support concerns me.
  13. Compatiblity Question

If someone doesn't have a similar config, can anyone please tell me what the most compatible Socket 939 motherboards and ATI graphics cards are?
  14. I am upgrading my computer and I want to make it OS X x86 compatible. This is the Processor, Mobo, and Graphics Card I am thinking of putting in. AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ ECS KN1 Extreme Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX SAPPHIRE 100145L Radeon X1600PRO Has anyone had any success with this or a similar config? Will the onboard LAN and audio work? Thanks a lot!
