Hi! New member here. Nice board!

I've been a Mac user for about 12 years. My current Mac is an old "Windtunnel" 867MHz DP PowerPC. I need to replace it, but funds are short and I can't afford a new Mac right now, so my thoughts have turned to building a Hackintosh.

I have an XP box I built myself that is in need of updating, so I thought I'd try the OSx86 route, but finding information on compatible hardware at a decent price is difficult! Most of my searches turn up motherboards that are no longer available. Where does everyone here go to find motherboards that have a good chance of being "Hackintosh-able"?

I've been looking for a Core 2 Duo motherboard with gigabyte networking and PCIe 2.0 for under $100.

Thanks for everyone's input!

Hard to find anything on that list that's still available (at least from newegg)

Consider the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R

Well, this certainly looks like a viable mb to try.

If I was interested in a triple-boot system (XP, OSX, Ubuntu), is there a generally accepted order in which they get installed?

Also, what about this board (GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard)? It's about half the price. Anything that's an obvious "no" here?

A better list to check out that's still a lot more complete than that 'library' is still the 10.5.2 HCL.

I've built several systems using a GA-G31M-S2L- however, I haven't done a retail install with that board ( I used the old Leo4allv3 distro), and I haven't used the specific update G31M-E2SL. I know the updated board has better audio hardware (ALC883 vs the old ALC662)

I'm pretty sure the E2SL works fine for OSX, just I don't know about a retail install.
