It sounds like it is too late for many but, I just had a bad experience with Newegg. I was focused on buying from them as so many here on the forums were using them. After 4 business days my order had been accepted and I had also put a rush on it. Finally I live chatted to see why no shipping was happening. I ship to a PO BOX, the same address my bank has for me. They do say they will ship to a PO in rural areas etc. They also say they wont ship to a PO box therefore I had a part in that too but, they didn't bother to notify me at all after I asked for a rush order and they accepted my order with a PO ship to address.

But the customer service is what really annoys me because when I contacted them it was oh well, you can start over if you like. A $750 order and they don't care to fix it? When were they planning to notify me of my orders invalid status? They could not say. They could have been nice and tried to fix their order acceptance system and gotten me a serious rush order but, nope.

I canceled and went to Provatntage. Provantage.com is great. In the past I ordered from them with amazingly fast shipping. I was on the east coast then and I ordered some parts for my old 9600 Mac. It said shipping could take 3 to 5 days and it came the next day. I just ordered last night and when they open this morning it will start the process again (I will update this post as to how long it actually takes).

Sorry to the many here who are satisfied with newegg and yes it was partially my fault but, wasting 4 business days plus a weekend when I am ready to get going on this leaves a bad taste in my mouth toward newegg. I don't see why they did not flag my order immediately when I tried to submit it with a PO, or fulfilled the rush processing aspect of the ticket, or were uninterested in helping me not sit another 6 days to start from scratch again. I finally asked to be transfered to a manager and the live chat person refused. It did not leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling about customer service at Newegg.

And FWIW the parts I ordered came in less than what I had ordered at newegg. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I can not, not recommend, newegg enough.

I don't have a PO box so I love NewEgg :(

I put some stuff together on newegg, but the next day when I went to buy it I learned the prices had changed. I asked customer service about their sale dates and they said they reserve the right to change them at any time without notice and do not post sale dates.

That really annoyed me.

I've never had a problem with newegg in literally hundreds of orders from them. (I've got something on order from newegg for clients, myself, or friends/family pretty much EVERY single week of the year, for the past 4 years or more- currently awaiting a dual processor server for a client, and this past week took delivery of a gaming build and several hard drives for friends).

I empathize with the O.P. (sucks big time not to get what you were waiting for, and discover it's due to some lousy shipping foul-up) but I also see it from newegg's view- there's nothing they could really do about it except tell you to order again. They would have just been lying to you to get your money if they would have said they'd put any kind of 'rush' delivery on a re-order. Their shipping is all based on third party shipping from warehouses in CA, TN, and NJ- and unless you pay for FedEX 2 day or overnight (and NO, they won't eat that for you)- that's what you get, no matter what, and the timetable is based on a third party shipper, not newegg. All their customer service really did was shoot it to you straight. Since they do actually ship to residential P.O. boxes in rural areas, and they do post the restrictions, it's up to the customer to know if they qualify or not.

And the price thing- really, it is their right to change their prices without notice. I find, with as much stuff as I order on a regular basis, price changes happen just as often in my favor, as against it. (They instant rebate items by $10, $20, even $30 constantly), and do free shipping on a lot of items like CPUs.

Just sayin'- don't be so quick to dump on newegg. For many of us, not much else compares to the selection they have. And they've always sent me what I've ordered quickly, and with no problems.

They may process the orders quickly but their free shipping seems to be a special go slow variety from UPS in the two weeks I have been waiting for my new external drive I could have driven to California and back twice to pick it up myself...

I think you have a fair point. I did own my part in it all. And still, I have heard such glowing reviews of Newegg here and on Newegg's customer comments sections, it just seemed fair to let others know that it isn't always all that great.

IF you can't ship to a PO and yet you accept a PO as a SHIP TO and you allow the order to sit as complete for 6 days - no telling when I would have heard it wasn't going anywhere, just not that functional in todays web interface shopping carts IMHO.

My point in posting this was 1) to let other NOOBs know to be careful and 2) to possibly get agreement around how the NE system could be improved - just in case anyone over at NE was listening. They surely get a lot of business off these forums - they almost had mine.

I have nothing against shopping at NE per se. I just think this issue could use a little attention.

I don't agree with your defense. I consider it bad customer service. Why refuse to post the sale dates? Is it to force me into a quick decision? I would even accept a little note on the page that sale prices are subject to change without notice. Have I overlooked this notice?

I am not prone to quick buying decisions. Especially with as many choices as newegg has and as many difficulties as osx86 presents. I need time to weigh options, read online reviews, and gather opinions from outside sources. When I have made a decision at 11 pm, and go to buy it at 2 pm the next day only to find the price has been raised, it is irritating. I invested a lot in my decision, and now I have to start the whole process anew.

I hardly think it unreasonable to have either consistency or transparency in the pricing.

Let's not be too quick to fit them for a halo either.

P.S. I changed my components and still bought from newegg. I think overall they are a good company, and I would recommend buying from them. But if I they asked me to rate them, it would be 7/10; yesterday would've been 10/10.

I guess since they can ship to rural POs, it's not possible to have an automated system that can tell the difference. It's therefore up to the user to know the policy reguarding PO boxes.

Also, just curious, what did the tracking info say about your order? Did you check it? One thing I've always liked about Newegg is that they have an excellent package tracking system. Right now I can see the full details of my current order- it left Edison NJ on the 18th (the day I ordered by the way), went through NJ and PA, and arrived here in LA on Friday the 20th. It'll be delivered to my office tomorrow, Monday the 23rd. Every order invoice has a tracking # and onsite tracking, and your account keeps a complete history of invoices. Honestly, I don't know how it could get any better or clearer. If an order doesn't say Status: Shipped on your newegg Dashboard, and provide a tracking number (and you should see it within one business day, sometimes within hours or ordering) then there's a problem and you can look into it.

Sorry, but I really just don't see the big problem here . As I said, the prices are often as likely to go DOWN as they are up. As stated, I order from newegg constantly, and I just don't find prices shift all that much. More often, hot items go in and out of stock, but not randomly up in price.

Every item has a price alert if you really need to be notified- they'll send you an email letting you know if the price drops to a point you're waiting for, or if there's a rebate or free shipping. It states: "Please only use Price Alert as a reference tool, as our prices are subject to change without notice." There are also other places around the site where that is stated, and it's pretty much a standard procedure for most businesses.

Most places don't actively state that every single item will go up or down in price at a certain time/date for all sorts of reasons- they don't want to tip off their competitors to their pricing details (TigerDirect- "great, when newegg ups the price of X hot item on xx/xx/09, we'll lower ours!) and it'd be a pretty ridiculous amount of data to keep track of for no particular reason.

Also: your Zip code changes in the middle of an order? Really now, how often does that happen to anyone? And again, that's a UPS problem, not newegg. And it's not like the street address changes automagically too. Why wouldn't UPS be able to still tell where your city/street/building number is even if the zip code did just change, and somehow they couldn't look up the old zip which they've delivered to for years? That sounds like a 1 in a million "problem" that's easily solved.

I'm only defending newegg here because most of the complaints are things that actually ARE stated on thier site, or are things that are beyond their control such as dealing with a third party shipper.

what makes this new egg criticism retarded is a lot of companies prefer not to ship to a PO Box. Especially when it comes down to credit cards. The chance of a zip code changing is not as likely but in the case that it does i bet if i called new egg i could get them to ship it to me still if it never arrived. Ive always preferred tiger direct but new egg seems to have more options at the moment for my interest in building a mac. bad word spreads fast but honestly people are going to judge new egg more based on their product reviews than anything else. if i order something on ebay i dont research them in forums to find my answers i read feedback based on previous purchases. i think of this post as more of an advertising scam for Provantage.com. I went to the site and honsotly the prices seem alright, nothing special, but like tiger direct they carry a limited variety. and tiger direct is way better than this {censored}. thank you good bye lol
