nitro2k01
I tried plugging my USB HD to my MacBook running Leopard and it gives me this: "Disk insertion. The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer", giving me the options to initialize, ignore or eject. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that I partitioned the space on the disk as three individual partitions. (All NTFS if that matters) Is the problem with the partitioning or the file system? And in either way how to solve the problem? .ShadowFox
Hmm. OS X Might think that the HD is corrupted. If another computer recognizes it as readable, you might wanna copy the files to that computer. Then format the disk as FAT32, then re-copy the files. (FAT32 is a file format that OS X and Windows can read and write to, BTW.) Probably your 3 partitions are formatted with a 'DYNAMIC Disk' layout, instead of normal 'basic disc' type? Can you confirm? Normally you are not able from XP to convert back from dynamic>basic... But with respect to your intelligence you might already know that Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/153447-usb-disk-not-readable/#findComment-1083179 Share on other sites

nitro2k01
The 3 partitions on your HD are Primary or Logical? Giorgio Primary. Hi did you made the disks with 3 partitions in XP / linux / mac?Originally made with Windows. (I might possibly have created the partition table with Linux but I formatted them using Windows at least)Here's what Linux fdisk says: Disk /dev/sdb: 750.1 GB, 750156374016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 91201 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x24796452 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 * 1 22800 183140968+ 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sdb2 22801 48296 204796620 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sdb3 48297 91201 344634412+ 7 HPFS/NTFS The partitions are taking up every bit of space of the drive. Could that be the problem perhaps? BTW, I installed ntfs-3g, but with no change. (Which shouldn't matter anyway since OSX should be able to read NTFS at least.)
