Debian doesn't get released very often, about once every 2 years.

Debian is one of the oldest active distributions and the mother of countless others, including Ubuntu.

A Debian release is always a day of celebration for every "old geek".

Until Woody, Debian was really difficult to use. You had to know all your hardware in order to install it. The problem was made a lot easier by the likes of Libranet, 100% Debian compatible, but with an easy installer and great configuration tools.

Beginning with Sarge, Debian has had an installer that has been improving all the time.

Nowadays, with the release of Lenny, Debian isn't more difficult to use than many other distros, but with its stability, its huge choice of apps(over 23,000 packages, 5 DVDs), support for 12 architectures, the comfort of apt-get, it is definitely one of the best distributions available.
