quietglow
Oh so close! I got an x1600 Pro with DVI and VGA out. I added the device ID (0x71C21002) to the ATIRaedonx1000.kext and that got me CI and QE at the maxium res on this monitor: 1600x1200. This is sweet. The problem: I get nothing from the DVI connection and I bought this to drive my Cinema Display (1920x1200). Is there anything I can do to indicate that I need the DVI port, not the VGA? I've tried booting with only the dvi and with both. Neither get anything on the DVI port. Thanks! (and the $219 x1600 Pro card at Best Buy does CI and QE) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15329-x1600-pro-vga-but-no-dvi/ Share on other sites

kseelbo
Find out what the other display's device ID is. My X1600 has 2, one for VGA, one for DVI. Look under PCI cards in ASP. quietglow
Find out what the other display's device ID is. My X1600 has 2, one for VGA, one for DVI. Look under PCI cards in ASP. That sounds very promising, but I have "no information" for PCI under ASP. I'm going to try a live linux disk this evening to see if it recognizes it/can get me a ID. Even without the id though, shouldn't it use the VESA drivers by default when it start? I'm trying to rule out the possibility that there is something actually wrong with this card. Did yours give no video from DVI until you added your dev ID? kseelbo
Yes, it worked with the VESA driver on that port, but I don't have a DVI monitor, so I used the adapter. The ID is 71e2, instead of 71c2. The ID is 71e2, instead of 71c2. See that makes me suspicious of my card. I get no signal from the digital side. I added 71e2 to my device IDs and the machine wouldn't boot. I had to come in to work, so I couldn't mess with it, but I'm going to try ONLY the 71e2 address and see if that makes any change. Again, though, all this driver stuff should happen later. I don't even get a BIOS screen on the digital output. Bad card? Maybe the DVI side needs to be enabled somehow (like in a windows install? remember this thing has never seen windows). kseelbo
I think that unless you have two displays hooked up, having both ID's may create a conflict. I don't know if you have to "turn it on" somehow or not. Like I said, mine worked both ways with the VESA 3.0 driver. Good luck.
