i would like to test snow leopard and i have the a222 (iso) version, a 16gb flash drive and i want to keep my leopard install fine. I have looked through the forums but cant see anything like this.

thanks

p.s. im on a mid-2008 macbook 2.1GHz, 320GB

how do i do that?

1) mount iso and drag contents to usb

2) burn dvd and boot to it

3) tell me please!

1: Use software to burn the DVD.

2: Use Disk Utility to erase your USB drive (HFS+ journaled).

3: Boot the DVD and install to the USB drive.

Or

You can just run the installer from it's current location, no need to first write a DVD!

Open the 10.6 dmg

run the System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg (you need to see hidden files).

Choose the drive you want to install to, and complete the setup!

It will install about 15 times faster on a USB HDD.

now thats the type of answer i was looking for! thanks alot!

Hi,

my HD is not GUID, its MBR P-Table but with HFS+ formated. OSInstall didnt "want" this volume :D

I need to change something in this OSInstall.mpkg (there must be the check if volume is GUID ).

Anyone knows to do that ?

I didnt want to repartition my disk.

I made this guide long time ago, but same thing still applies. Howto_Modify_OSX_Install_Disc.txt

Just pick up whatever you need from it.

YEAH ! Exact that was i am looking for.

To hard to find such "diamonds of hero hints" in the huge forum.

i do what sticmac said and when i run the osinstall.mpgk it fails even though i have partitioned my 16gb flash drive with guid and hfs+. it just says some files cant be copied to the drive and fails....

help please

This thread is gonna get real messy. I suggest just waiting for the Gold Master version. I know it's tough to have to wait, but there really is NOTHING exciting in Snow Leopard in it's current state. Trust me.
