bossent20
I have been asking a few noob questions on the forums lately since registering, as I am a total noob in fact with only a Windows background. However, I finally did it. I did not do anything like patch this or that seperately, or add kexts, chains, etc... All I did was use one DVD OS install and that was it. This is my spec and this is what I did - I am putting this post up for those asking any questions about the Gigabyte DQ6 board... 1 - P965-DQ6 Quad BIOS Rev.1 2 - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 3 - 8GB DDR2 6400 Corsair RAM 4 - 4 SATA-II Hard Drives (2 x 80gb Hitachi Desktar, 1 x Samsung F1 Spinpoint 1tb, 1 x 500gb Hitachi Deskstar) 5 - 2 x Samsung Super Drive (SATA-II) 6 - XFX Nvidia Geforce 7300 GS PCI-e My BIOS settings are all set to factory default. I never chose any AHCI or enable this or that - only thing I had to change was making my wireless keyboard and mouse ENABLED so the install screen would see it. None of the purple sata connectors are being used. All my sata drives and super drives are on yellow connections. Then I installed Windows XP and after all my drivers for XP, I installed Acronis OS selector. This was all on the first 80gb drive I did not set anything inside Acronis Director Suite, except for installing and activating OS Selector. I then installed MAC OSX on the other 80gb drive All the drivers I needed were on my DVD install disc using the iPC Mac OSX86 PPF6 install DVD I chose the universal kernel made for SSE2 / SSE3 CPU's And that was the only thing I chose besides my nvidia driver. I chose no USB or SATA fixes because everything for this board works fine already. For the chipset I selected Intel ICHx Chipset That was about it. I was worried at one point though coz I always had crashes at one time or the next when I tried installing the system previously. There was one point in this latest install I made where safari kept on giving me MUST RESTART YOUR COMPUTER errors everytime I was downloading, but that turned out to be a safari problem. I am now using Opera and am loving every minute of it. Such a joy! Plus it made me realise how much better Opera really is! I did however have another graphical/mouse issue, where after the system was left idle for around half an hour or so, I came back and the screensaver was running (I had the FLURRY screensaver set as the default) - it was running fine when I returned to my desk, but after moving the mouse I noticed a crash. It was just a system freeze with no errors, but I call it a graphical/mouse issue because the mouse was moving too fast as though it was set to high sensitivity. When trying to control the mouse, the cursor kept freezing. I had to reboot and everything was fine. I then noticed when trying to attach more usb devices next to my mouse wireless receiver, that my cursor kept on getting a little wierd and stopped responding... until I took out the newly attached USB devices, and the mouse started moving again. So i realised it was having some trouble with the new devices attached in the ports next to it. I changed over the mouse to the other port, and put the new device where the mouse receiver was and it works fine now. I still did not use any usb patch fix for it. Anyways I hope this helps anyone using this board Oh and my soundcard is the delta audiophile 2496 - I forgot to mention I also installed this - (Envy24 driver) - but still it was amazing that it was on the install disc. Everything I needed was there Briliant! I love my system! I love my MAC Thanks for reading! PS - the system also reads all 8gb of RAM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152777-total-success-with-mac-osx86-on-p965-dq6/ Share on other sites
