tackle
Some general questions about memory to get some understanding: I have 4x1gb ddr2 pc6400 memory sticks on my asus p5b. In windows, using CPU-Z I check the memory tab: Channels: Dual Size: 4096 MBytes Frequency: 400 MHz In OSX system info: 4gigs 667 MHz 1 - In Windows, checking system info it says 2.93 GB RAM. Do I have that or 4 gigs? I'm guessing only 2.93. Which brings me to.. 2 - Could I have only 2.93 in OSX as well, even though it says 4 gigs? Funny thing is, when booting, bios says 3 gigs. 3 - Does my memory run faster or slower in OSX? I'm not sure if the 400MHz = 800 MHz considering dual channel, or how to read it. If slower in OSX; any way to alter that to higher speeds? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152246-question-about-memory-speed/ Share on other sites
Marclh
If you are using Windows XP 32-bit, it only recognizes around 3gb of ram, and if you installed OS X, it should be able to use all 4gb of ram that you have. I have 8gb of RAM on my hackintosh and it uses all of it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152246-question-about-memory-speed/#findComment-1075529 Share on other sites
