alc0h0lic
Hi all, At the moment I'm runnin osx with AC97 audio and GMA900 on my Asrock 775Dual. I was wondering if it makes any sense to upgrade to an Asus P5LD2-VM with HD-Audio & GMA950 ? cheers. nathansvt
it depends, what do you use the box for? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15195-upgrade-to-hd-audio-and-gma950-worth-it/#findComment-97788 Share on other sites
alc0h0lic
I'm using it as a workstation for Java & Cocoa development and also for listening to music and watching a movie now and then. When watching a HD-trailer the cpu goes 95% and sometimes when running 4 or 5 apps the animations are stuttering (like genie-effect), perhaps with gma950 it is better, also heard that HD-audio sounds a lot better than AC97. I don't play games on my mac, so 3d performance is not an issue. edit: well, tomorrow I'll upgrade my ram to 2gb and replace my disk with hitachi 250gb sata-II... perhaps that will smoothen out my workflow.
