adlai
Right now I think I can say that I'm happy with the OS X installation on the P4. I like the mac OS-- much more than windows. I'm considering putting it on my laptop. Now, laptops are much more difficult than desktops due to the fact that: 1. sleep when shutting lid 2. WLAN 3. Power saving modes (speedstep) 4. trackpoint+ scrolling (thinkpad here) anyone have anything to say on that? mark7714
1. sleep when shutting lid2. WLAN 3. Power saving modes (speedstep) 4. trackpoint+ scrolling (thinkpad here) 1. You probably won't know till you try. The big issue in this case is if sleep works for you. It works for me, but even then, closing the lid doesn't put my laptop to sleep. This option hasn't worked since I erased the Dell included XP and installed Gentoo when I first got my laptop. Even when reinstalling XP it didn't come back... *shrug* You can post and see if anyone else is running OS X on the same laptop. 2. Depends on what card you have. And even then, if you don't have a compatable one, you can buy one if you've got the cash to burn. WIFI worked fine for me witha bit of tweeking though. 3. Speedstep does not work for anyone. Sleep works for some (most) people. LCD sleep works for some (most) people. 4. I don't know whether you have alps of synaptics, but snyaptics seems to work no prob (worked for me), and there is a driver available for alps. So this should not be a problem. There are some other issues that need to be fixed, but there are ways (battery monitor has been fixed, VGA dongle), but overall, OS X on a laptop = wicked good.
