I updated my bios to the newest version for my computer from www.hp.com but I cant can't change anything with power in my bios..

When I try to start osx on battery I just see the white screen with the aple but the spinning wheel are never comming..

Anyone who can help me?

Thanks Peter..

I'm also seeing a similar situation. Typically it would almost finish loading the drivers, but stop at or after getting the ethernet address.

It works fine when my laptop is plugged into the wall.

I tried disabling all power related options in the bios but same results.

This is on a Samsung X10 laptop.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hmm.. I'm replying to my own reply. Anyways, after further searching, this thread seems to show some information about the booting while unplugged problem being fixed.

The final version of the power management file is here.

I'll give that a shot first. If it doesn't work, I'll reply to my reply for my reply. =)

I got it booting finally. I updated the bios to the most recent version, and then disabled the Internal LAN function through the bios. That boots when unplugged and on batteries.

However, the Internal LAN works when I'm plugged in - I'm not sure what the Internal LAN has to do with running on batteries though...

Anyone have a clue?

It hangs after getting the ethernet address:

Apple3Com3C90xB: Ethernet address <address>

There's also another extension error:

can't find extension with id com.apple.iokit.IOUSBUserClient

Okay.. I tried to boot osx86 on battery and then my mom came and said that we had to eat.. When I came back osx86 was booted... It muss had taken more than 10 minutes.. BUT it runs VERY slow.. If I boot osx plugged in and then disable the cable so it runs on battery it all runs normaly, but now it runs very very slow..

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Hope you got my point..

EDIT:

Another weird thing.. I managed to go to about this mac... (toke me 3 minutes), and it's telling me that my processor is a 1 GHz AMD Athlon64, but if I boot with it plugged in it says 2 GHz.. Could the problem be the power saving function that goes crazy?

EDIT EDIT:

Weird weird weird!! If it is plugged in the first 4 seconds after I pushed the power button to start the computer and then I pull it out so my laptop runs on the battery it boots just fine like it do when the cable is plugged in. Note that I am plugging it out before my bootloader loads and I shall select Win Xp or Osx..
