David Schlüter
Hello, My early iMac 2006 (20" intel core duo version) is not 100% compatible with the new alu keyboard I bought Dec. 2008. The problem is, once you start the computer up, it does not recongize the keyboard until the apple logo shows up or the spinning wheel, whichever is first. Which means I cannot startup bootcamp, startup cd, safe startup, reset pram, hardware check etc. If I use hardware check, the keyboard is dead, if I use the remote to go into list of Harddrives to choose, the keyboard is dead. So I use the remote to choose HD. The same keyboard works on my 24" intelCore2Duo bought in may 2008. Apple was unable to help, replaced the keyboard, same results. How do you get the keyboard working at the same time you start the computer? I can hook up my white keyboard and its on, alu keyboard is dead. The mouse is dead too unless u use the port from the iMac. Any info on this problem? And why are the keyboards so different that they don't work correctly? David P.S. its the corded full keyboard. David Schlüter
Thanks, I will try it out, but the I will not be able to choose which System since the keyboard won't work, unless I plug the mouse into the back of the Mac, but I have both of them ports used. Either the mac or the keyboard needs an update to the rom so the keyboard will startup the same time the mac does. I tried bootpicker and it does nothing, I restart my mac and I see no menu that comes up that shows me all the system s I have in which I can restart in. It only restarts in my macosx. The only think I changed is the windows device to bootamp /(dev/disk0s3). Be nice if there was a program where it will show you the menu for like 5 secs or longer so I can choose which system I like, and if I don't choose within 5 sec then it goes to mac incase im afk like bathroom or cooking etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/150865-aluminum-keyboard-and-imac-2006/#findComment-1074548 Share on other sites
David Schlüter
Well I think there are 2 different companies that make bootpicker software, I downloaded the one from softpedia and it does not work, but the one from Bombich has been removed and is not downloadable, it says file not found or be back shortly or download link removed, something must of been bad about this software.
