Okay, I can not figure out how to get my PC to boot from the Kalyway 10.5.2 Intel_AMD DVD That I burned.

I have it set in my Bios to boot from the CD/DVD Drive.

It is a DVD-RW Drive.

I even tried pressing F12 and selecting boot from DVD Drive and that STILL Doesn't work.

And every time it DOES work, I get the SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE KEY = 0x03 ASC =0x10 ASCQ = 0x??

Please help me!

I have a Dell Dimension 4700 Series computer.

4Gigs of DDR2 RAM

GeForce 9400GT

H21N ATA Device [DVD-RW Drive]

Western Digital, 80GB

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.8GHz

I just did a quick google search on this and it points to the DVD/RW. First thing I would try is burning at a lower speed.

Is your DVD-RW IDE or SATA?

I burned it at the lowest speed possible [1x] and still nothing.

Also, Its IDE

this is really annoying me.

any help would be appreciated

If u ever want to install Leopard on PC. first thing if u want to boot either Kalyway or Genuine Retail Leopard DVD from Apple.

You *** GOT*** to have SATA DVD Drive. Trust me IDE will not work. I faced this problem for long. Just get yourselves a SATA DVD drive u can then install Kalyway smoothly.

And luckily if you have Intel Processor u can go for Retail Leopard which gives u free updates without hassle's

:)

press F8 to add boot options, then do

maxmem=2048

and hit enter.

That *should* let the DVD boot and install.

If not, you might have to try another distro (iPCosx86, iDeneb, etc) and see if they work.

FWIW, I installed iDeneb on an AMD machine with an IDE dvd drive. To an IDE hard disk. So YMMV. :)

this is really annoying me.

any help would be appreciated

Oh BTW i forgot to mention if u cannot get SATA DVD Drive Google for IDE DVD drive patch. There is this patch out there which u need to apply to your Kalyway 10.5.2 Intel Amd ISO before u burn it. Just find tht patch it has all tools req'd to patch inbuilt PPF file to your ISO. tht will do.

But again i still recommend u a SATA DVD Drive

Hi Leveron style ....are u serious that Kalyway wont run on IDE? I never thought of that since all my drives are SATA and i ude the IDE for testing only?

The only way I could get Kalyway to install was through an IDE drive...

Is there a way to get Kalyway running on a IDE Dvd Drive? nothing new out, my friend is unfortunately stuck with having just a IDE Dvd Drive and won't be able to buy one for a while.. any ideas on how to get this working, I didn't want to make a new post so thought I just ask in one that was having the same problem, if you know anything just let me know what you know, even if you don't think its helpful enough. Thanks.
