  1. 10.6.4 on a Inspiron 9400/E1705

or would you know if 10.6.4 would be possible on vmware?
  2. Ok well it has been a long since I have install Mac OS X, the last time I managed to get 10.5.8 on my Dell Inspiron 9400, but at the time I realized I wasn't using it to much and decided to move on with Windows 7, now a year later, I have noticed that I need to OS X on my laptop again, but now snow leopard seems to be the new OS X, and most likely most new programs coming out will need the latest OS X out there, which is why I am here writing this. I know no one will be able to do this for me, so I am looking for some info. I have googled around and have seen some people get 10.6.4 on there 9400 or E1705, but they have no info, or respond back on what they used and what tutorial the used to successfully install OS X on there system. So I am hoping someone here knows of tutorial for my system, and what OS X setup I should use, and any kexts you might recommend to get me going on my project. I also wanted to dual boot with my windows 7, would that work? Ok thanks.
  3. Kalyway 10.5.5 to 10.5.7 update?

Shoot I don't even remember what that link was for, ,maybe it was this http://tinyurl.com/kkrjzd I really wouldn't be able to give you a guide for that installation, I don't know what you need for your computer specs, thats something you need to check before installing all these distros. Here is link to tons of guides but there for different computers, maybe you wil find one for yours http://www.google.ca/search?q=ideneb+1.3+g...lient=firefox-a Or was it that you need a guide on how to install a update? If its that just search it up on this forum or google, there are tons and tons to show how to do it.
  4. Could some at least let me know if his Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio would work, at least to get line out. Thanks.
  5. Ok so I have been trying to help out a friend with getting his sound card working, I know he has a XPS 700 desktop and he has two sound options I am guessing to get working. One is the Creative Sound Blaster X Fi XtremeMusic 7.1 Sound Card SB0460 which with all the research that I have found but not really with a clear answer, is that theres a 50/50 chance that it will work with the VoodooHDA.kext, now for that one, has anyone heard if there is another kext that will work with it. He also has Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio, So from some stuff that I have searched on google I think its Intel, but is there a chance that it might be a Sigmatel, since the XPS700 is from dell. I haven't found anything really about this on the forums and nothing on google, I have found some things that date back to '05 and '06 but nothing really new, and there no clear answer if it works. I really want to be able to help this guy out, but I am running out of ideas, I got him to try out the AzaliaAudio(Some with the Azalia name from iAtkos v7) He said it didn't work. I am running out of ideas, could someone be really kind and let me know if there is another driver out there that will work with either of these cards. The help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
  6. Kalyway 10.5.5 to 10.5.7 update?

I'd recommend to go one step at a time, because you would have more chances of getting it working after reboot, have you tried the ones offered by iDeneb, she has Combo upgrade to 10.5.6 then you can continue on from there. Heres the link http://tinyurl.com/p4swxm After once you go from .6 to .7, you could try .8 and use iDeneb Delta upgrade, but that only works when you have .7 already on your os x. The iDeneb upgrades she offers on her site work with all distros. So give it a try if you havent.
  7. Is there a way to get Kalyway running on a IDE Dvd Drive? nothing new out, my friend is unfortunately stuck with having just a IDE Dvd Drive and won't be able to buy one for a while.. any ideas on how to get this working, I didn't want to make a new post so thought I just ask in one that was having the same problem, if you know anything just let me know what you know, even if you don't think its helpful enough. Thanks.
  8. as in booting windows with os x, you would need to install one of the bootloaders, like Chameleon or something like that, just search around the forums for dual booting. You'll find the awnser on here seen it asked many times.
  9. Thats what use to happen to me with the Kalyway 10.5.1, on both Inspiron 9400 and Aspire 6920 I just had to try out other versions out there like Kalyway 10.5.2 which worked, or iDeneb or iAtkos.
  10. Well your question seems kinda confusing, I not sure if your asking how to burn the dvd or that this is what is happening when you try and boot the dvd?
  11. When you formated the drive in disk utility what kind did you format the hard drive as?
  12. Need Help Installing Mac OS X

Sorry to say but Rod Smith is 100% right, where all on are own. Believe me, If i knew what would work on your computer I'll tell you everything you need to know, but unfortunately, all I can do really is say good luck and just recommend other os x's out there, because I don't know swap about your hardware. Just do a some more research on your cpu since its a AMD there harder to get os x on it, check it out in google. I know there are other osx86 sites out there, have you tried those ones. See my laptop is suppose to be compatible enough that it shouldn't be hard, but hey it took me a long time to figure and learn things, I just managed to get everything working just about a week ago, people can only help so much, so just do some more research. I am pretty sure you'll be able to figure out if your computer is compatible or not.Good luck
  13. Need Help Installing Mac OS X

Why don't you give Kalyway 10.5.2 it supports AMD, and there are a couple other ones out there too, I never liked iPC because I always get problems with that one, and I have a intel, but yeah try out Kalyway, it won't hurt. EDIT: Never mind didn't see that you have used kalyway sorry, just look into the other ones like iDeneb or iAtkos(not sure if it supports AMD though.... i know iDeneb does)
  14. Installation Questions

    1. iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal Final, is the one I am looking at using, and suggestions if it isn't a good one? I tried to use this version but it just would never boot for setup, but thats my laptop, so it might work, other wise there is many others out there, I have used with success on my laptop is kalyway 10.5.2 and iAtkos v7 10.5.7 but give iPC a try, it wont hurt. 2. Below are my system specs, are they able to run Mac OS X? They look more than fine to me, you should be able to get the os x running fine. It will be a bit of work but patience is the key, also reading a lot, but I mean reading everything on guides just to get an idea of what your doing, which I noticed that you haven't probably read much since you don't know what a kext file is. 3. If I am installing Mac OS X by itself, is Chameleon needed? Chameleon is a bootloader, which meaning that if you are wanting to boot into os x and windows, its good to have, I installed it on my laptop just in case I ever wanted to install windows on it. I would say that Chameleon V2 is my fav. 4. What is a Kext? Basically its like a driver, there is information inside of it, that makes things work in os x like video card kext, sound card kexts, its what make things functional on the computer. 5. Is there any simple to understand guides for people who have to ask the questions above?(I have read most guides in the wiki, on on forums, and most still leave me with these same questions. There are many guides on here also there are other sites as well like: infinitemac.com hackint0sh.org hackintosh.com/ Those are some, and there's much more out there, just search google. Just a little over a week ago, I didn't know swap about doing all this stuff, but after reading and searching I learned a lot, but one thing I must give as a tip is to have a lot of patience, because things aren't going to happen just in a snap, it takes a while to get things working great, sometimes you will get lucky, but usually that doesn't happen. Good luck. Oh one more thing, you might have a bit of trouble with your video card, because its a 512mb but it shouldnt be to hard to get it working, there are a lot of guides on how to get it to work.
  15. You where asking which I choose from iAtkos DVD well I didn't choose any because the ones provided on this cd did not work. So I made my own video kexts, well not my own but edited it, I grabbed it from kalway 10.5.2, the NVinjectGO one, because that seemed to be the only distro that would work out of the box on my laptop. The zip file is at the bottom for download, just install it with Kext Helper b7 or OSx86 Tools. ----------------For others with my laptop heres a little guide---------------- Turn on your laptop, hit F2 in the dell bios screen and now you should see the bios. Scroll down with the arrow keys, to "Performance" and hit enter then scroll down to "Multi Core Support" and hit enter. Now you should be able to scroll side to side either choosing "off" or "enabled" choose "off" and hit enter and then hit "esc" on the keyboard and save/exit option. Now Load the DVD by hitting F12 and you should get a black screen where it says a lot of stuff and the options you have is to hit enter or hit F8, I want to you to just hit "Enter" and then the DVD should boot up and once your passed the Apple Logo with the spinning wheel of death. There is only one language in this DVD so all you have to do is click next the little blue arrow button on the window. Now you will need to format your hard drive in Disk Utility(I will continue writing this paragraph another day don't have time right now, just search the forum if you are wanting to just format the whole drive for OS X or if you are wanting to have windows and os x on it) Once you get you have finished formating your drive, you will need to click next and choose your drive and then you are going to get three options in the next window, click on Customize, you have too. Here is what your going to want to choose in the Customize Section of the iAtkos v7 DVD: That's about it for the installation, now when you boot into os x, your probably going to want to install the video drivers, follow these next instructions. So what you need to do is download the driver I provided here towards the bottom. You will also need Kext Helper b7 and OSx86 Tools to get them installed and working. Open Kext Helper and drag the the two files you downloaded from here into the Kext Helper program. Now type your password in the password box, then click "Easy install", when that's done, click ok and close the program. Now open up OSx86 Tools and check "Set Extensions permissions" and "Clear Extensions Cache" in the System Maintenance section. Once everything is checked click on "Run Selected Tasks" button and let it do its thing. Once its done click ok and restart OS X. Now your QE/IC should be working(Well lets hope so). Now to get two CPU's running again, your going to need to download Voodoo Kernel Release 1.0 REV A and to install it on the OS X. Once you have done that you need to do open up OSx86 Tools again and check "Set Extensions permissions" and "Clear Extensions Cache" in the System Maintenance section. Once everything is checked click on "Run Selected Tasks" button and let it do its thing. Once its done click ok and restart OS X. Now make sure when you restart the computer hit F2 in bios boot before it gets to Chameleon/Darwin bootloader, which I assume is called Bios Screen where it says Dell. So once you hit F2 and the bios loads up scroll down with the arrow keys, to "Performance" and hit enter then scroll down to "Multi Core Support" and hit enter. Now you should be able to scroll side to side either choosing "off" or "enabled" choose "enabled" and hit enter and then hit "esc" on the keyboard and save/exit option. Now your computer should reload and go into the bootloader, it might be slow when loading through bios but thats normal. Once you get into OS X you should have everything working fully. Have Fun! ------------------For others with just the video card read here------------------ So what you need to do is download the driver I provided here towards the bottom. You will also need Kext Helper b7 and OSx86 Tools to get them installed and working. (I can't guarantee its going to work for you but its worth a shot.) Open Kext Helper and drag the the two files you downloaded from here into the Kext Helper program. -------------------- Please read more information on the board if your really not sure what your doing, you could end up making a mess on your computer, so educate yourself a bit more on this stuff. Good Luck! -------------------- Here's where you can find the recommended programs/files: OSx86 Tools Voodoo Kernel Release 1.0 Rev A Kext Helper b7 -------------- If you tried to hook up your webcam and it didn't work, you could give this webcam driver for mac a try. The description that's on there is in dutch, basically what it says is: "This is a Universal USB Webcam Driver works with 99% of all USB webcams, even with the PS3 Cam really recommend if your webcam is not working on OS X" Here the link, just click on the download button on the site: USB WEBCAM DRIVER I haven't tried it because my webcam worked fine. ------------- Someone had ask me for a driver for the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card, if your looking for one to get your Wireless enabled, you could give this one a try. To install this, follow in my guide, in the part about installing the video driver. Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g ------------- GeForceNvidiaGO7900GS.zip
