edgarinc
A few days ago I had the chance to upgrade my Intel iMac's (17 in) firmware. While I was upgrading my finger slipped and I let go of the power button. My iMac's firmware is corrupted. I tried the firmware restoration cd and it did not work. I reset NVRAM, PRAM, and SMC. When I turn on the computer, I hear the startup chime and see the white LED light. I am also able to eject cds and I hear the pop noise when I hit the volume keys on the keyboard. I brought the maching into service and they have told me they have made no progress. I hope I can fix this problem. chiefsalami
You need to try that restoration CD that Apple released. It will burn a CD that will re-flash your firmware and should fix it. You have to reboot and hold down the C key on the keyboard for it to boot off the CD and start the process. moksha
I tried the firmware restoration cd and it did not work. So that's a bust... You should be able to get it replaced, given that it was corrupted by Apple's own firmware Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15020-corrupted-intel-imac-firmware/#findComment-96836 Share on other sites
SilverDragon
SlippeD? you were supposed to let go of the power button once the power led flashes rapidly, which is before flashing starts, at the point of flashing you're not supposed to be touching anything.
