xoroi
Hi, after some days enjoying Leopard (after Kalyway 10.5.2) I think I will totally switch to OSX. But I still have some issues with wifi cards and USB ports. I'm thinking of changing my actual mobo (Asus M2N-MX SE with Nvidia MCP61) to a more compatible one (SB600 or SB700). This is the easiest way, and cheapest. About 60 euro. The other way is switching to Intel, buy a high compatible mobo (GA EP45) and get a decent Intel cpu. But then I would have to change other things like RAM (now I have DDR2 667Mhz), heatsink, etc... This costs about 200 euro, minimum. I have 2 SATA drives plus an IDE DVD-RW. What should I do? Should I go the Intel way? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149982-motherboards-stay-with-amd-or-switch-to-intel/ Share on other sites
osx86ho
I went the intel way. Couldnt stand the constant fiddling and trouble I had with my amd systems. I'm still having trouble on intel though, so it's not all its cracked up to be. xIf you want the very best os x expericne then get a real mac. If you want a decent os x experience then search the forums and wiki for the most compatible hardware and buy it, that being intel. quetzalcoatl2435
If you don't mind meddling with kexts, then you could stick with AMD. I have an AMD770/SB600, and everything works. Just have to get the right drivers for it (mainly the SB600 IXP and USB2.0). Never had any problems with my setup either, software update aside. But as many say, intel has better compatibility, because it's closer to real Apple hardware. And yes, if you really want a perfect Mac OS X experience, go buy a Mac. xoroi
Thank you! I think I will go the AMD way. I'll get a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H or something like this.
