valdanta68
The specs look great! 6 gigs of ram! 650 HD. Integrated graphics suck, but I already have a working video card from my old rig. It should be able to run OSX, right? And it's 10% off this week. Thoughts? Synaesthesia
Put in a GFX card and I think you're good to go... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149371-599-quad-core-machine-circuitcity/#findComment-1056908 Share on other sites
valdanta68
Hmmm. I wonder if the HP bios let me overclock these puppies? Right now they are at 2.4 GHZ stock. Still pretty decent. treex2
It's not a bad deal. A self build with similar specs (but with 8GB of ram) is around 500-550ish. Just know that all sales at CircuitCity are final now. If you take it home and find out something is wrong with it, CircuitCity isn't going to help. Some motherboard specs so can make sure drivers are working: Northbridge: G33 Southbridge: ICH9R Audio: ALC888S LAN: Realtek 8111C And don't expect to be able to overclock. HP doesn't want you messing around with that stuff and then taking advantage of their warranty if something goes wrong. mattrb
Wonder if that ALC888S works?? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149371-599-quad-core-machine-circuitcity/#findComment-1057090 Share on other sites
Synaesthesia
mmm...having 2nd thoughts here... It's not a bad deal. A self build with similar specs (but with 8GB of ram) is around 500-550ish. Well then rather build something yourself, and if something goes wrong, it's covered by guarantee, I say... ~J~
GO with a build....Hp's Are not that great, i am using something so similar to this the only difference is speed and ram.....Thats it....And OSx is not a walk in the park for it either.... How circuit city works (to my knowledge)-Liquidators come in, take all current prices down, put regulars up, then place a few % maybe 10 off.....Nothing big...
