Hi all, i tried Kalaway 10.5.2 and iDeneb iso v1.3 Nforce patched but boot stops with "Still Waiting for root device". This seems to be related to the built-in chipset which is GeForce 8300.

If anybody have a positive installation on this modo i would like to know hardware config and setup.

Tnk, Fabio

I've installed "iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal FINAL" (the same as "iPC Public Beta patched to PPF5") on an ASUS M3N78-EM (µATX) motherboard, which uses the "GeForce 8300" chipset. I also got the "Still Waiting for root device" problem in my initial testing.

However I read somewhere that:

1. You have to use a Serial-ATA DVD-reader when installing.

2. You have to set "SATA Mode select" to "AHCI Mode" in BIOS.

After doing this (using the "9.5.0 Voodo Kernel" + "Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5") i managed to get my system up and running.

I did not need to install any additional "Chipset" or "Ethernet" drivers to get those up and running, but I'm still having problems with finding working drivers for the onboard audio (Realtek ALC1200) and the integrated video (GeForce 8300).

I hope this information can be of some help.

I just got the Asus M3N78PRO Working! I got everything but the Raid and 8300 on-board video working. I am using the latest Asus Bios with 4gb DDR2 1066 ram. I have ide enabled and ahci enabled in the bios. DO NOT USE RAID or SATA modes! Also, the IDE drive doesn't show up once the OS is up.

I used the iAtkos v7 and I used a Lite-on IDE DVD Burner to load the OS as my usb external kept giving me boot errors. I The biggest thing with switching to the black sata ports on the MB because the red ones won't load the OS. I have an evga 8500gt 512mb video card.

9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel is what I used because 9.7.0 locked up

Disabler

Under vga, I went to enablers, nvenabler

Under SATA/IDE I went to nForce SATA/IDE

Under sound I did the Voodoo HDA driver

Under wired ethernet i chose nForce Ethernet

After installing, you must reboot and load the DVD back up again and go under the utilities section and go to information on the Hard Drive and find out the info Chameleon needs to install. It should look like d0s1, which means Disk 0, Partition 1. Now when you select Chameleon, it will ask which Disk to install on, I typed just the 0 and hit enter.

Next it asked for the partition #, I typed 1 and hit enter along with y for Yes when prompted. I let Chameleon go until it was [PROCESS COMPLETED] and closed Terminal and closed the installer and clicked restart. Everything works! FYI, I had a hiccup with an external usb hard drive on reboot so make sure your usb hd is unplugged or ejected when rebooting.

I am glad someone finally figured this beast out, but it still isn't booting on mine. Are you saying that you cannot install the OS on an IDE drive when you say that IDE will not show up after OS is up? My setup is extremely similar to yours, with the 9550 chip instead. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I seem to be able to get OSX installed, but when I restart after loading the info from Disk Utility, the boot fails. I check the disk info again, and it seems to have changed around, mixing the values around. I can't seem to figure that one out at all.

What I am trying to do here is have my Win7 RC on my SATA raid disks, and OSX on my older IDE drive.
