Hi everybody, my name is Johan and I'm a french guy. I have an aspire one 110 (so with a built-in ssd and originaly 512 of Ram) I had improved with another 512 ram bar (A 512 one because I hadn't enough money for a 1G one). I also buy a passport HDD 180g USB in which I had installed kalyway, by following this tuto. Everything worked fine but the wifi (But I don't care about that). The problem is I planed to put Iwork 09 on it and it require, as you know, the 10.5.6 update. Like I didn't found any warning about that, I supposed I had just to update like I did for the 10.5.5 one (you can see the method in the tuto). The update worked fine but when I rebooted (Is boot a regular verb?), the trackpad and the keyboard don't work at all (where as before they work fine). Therefore, I searched on google but didn't found anything. Here, I see the topic "mice and keyboard issues" so I tried to repair permisssions without any result. I also try the second method, but I think I did something wrong because he puts me an error, when I type nano "$dp/usr/bin/nano $dp/etc/rc.local", he says me he doesn't know the command nano.

I thank you to have read this small text and I ask you to forgive me if my english isn't good enough.

I hope you didn't need to do that. You could use thisiWork 09 Without Upgrading to 10.5.6 to make it allow you to have iWork 09 and be careful about the fact of there is a trojan if you downloaded iWork from some torrent page: iWork '09 Trojan Beware!

Thanks for the answer, indeed, a good way to haven't the issue is not to update... so I will reinstall macOSX for the 14th time (Yes I am counting  ) and I will try your method. And about my version of Iwork, don't worry I have an original one someone lands me. If there is someone here who have a solution to update, I want it too because it will be a time when some software require the update. Thanks everybody

This is related to APplePS2Nub.kext, or lack of it. I ran into the same problem with my laptop. In your configuration, you need to choose the PS2 fix (in either the Kalyway, iDeneb, or iPC builds) in the installation, or just find direct links to the kexts in these forums.

** The bridge from the motherboard to both the keyboard and trackpad in many laptops is still controlled by PS2, old serial technology. The ApplePS2Nub kernel extension allows OSx86 users to enable it. Otherwise, they run into this kind of problem.

You will still be ble to hook up a USB mouse and keyboard (they will still work, usually).

Install the needed kexts, or use a different public release ISO, and flag -v -f prior to boot so you can see what is happening in the boot log and rebuild the kext cache file.

are you sure of you? Because I just reinstall OSX and I don't want to update it to 10.5.6 if that doesn't work. Is this a possibilty or a certitude? I installed kaliway without those kext, so have I to install them know or after the famous 10.5.6 update?

No, nothing is certain.

However, I'm running the full 10.5.6 update on a Toshiba laptop, and I had to enable my trackpad and keyboard with the use of the ApplePS2Nub.kext fix.

Also: Search for a more recent version of the PS2 fix in the forums. Kalyway is no longer the best choice for a base installation on which to upgrade to 10.5.6.

i had this issue when i upgrade to 10.5.6 too. what i did was to attach ext. mouse and keyboard then insert kalyway 10.5.2

installing couple of kexts file using pacifist - this includes ehciusb, loginwindow.app, appleacpi (including fix) and some other kexts file i knew are working perfectly under 10.5.2.

Now my system would trash any pc even mac when it come to performance, it hardly brakes a sweat while i leave it on 24/7.

probably you are getting a backtrace or sandbox panic at the moment look at the system log.

Hi every body and sory for the late. So I tried as you say to update and then to install the kext for the PS2 mouse, but whithout any success. In fact I will not make you waste your time, I have a friend who is well known in this forum, so he says he will help me. But don't worry, when I will have any results, I will post them here. (Thoses results must came the next W-E because I'm on a boarding school) For ricki, thanks for your answer but I haden't understand it (because of the language cause I'm sure your explanation is very clean). But, a new time, thanks everybody
